Feleipe Franks – 8/16 for 138 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Emory Jones – 6/17 for 76 yards, 1 TD
Kyle Trask – 11-21 for 143 yards, 2 TDs

Did someone say Kang Trask?

Says no one who was at the actual scrimmage.

Amari Burney looks sharp in Vosean’s spot. He’s big, he’s quick and he’s smart.

Feleipe is the unquestioned starter. He’s worked on the deep ball, has become even tougher & most importantly is still improving. So are Trask & Emory, noticeably. But if Train A & Train B are both moving at 50mph but Train A is already 25 miles ahead, Train B ain’t catching it.

Chris Steele is the real deal. He’s getting a lot of snaps with the 1’s while Marco recovers & he hasn’t flinched. There’s some days he starts slow, figuring out the nuances of something new; but by the end of the day he has it figured out more often than not.

The biggest defensive question marks are getting answered. Greenard came in from Louisville already knowing Grantham’s system & it’s paying off. He seems like he can slide right into the BUCK position & fill Polite’s role without missing a beat.

Except the stats.

Every single practice, every single scrimmage, every single game.

The only time Feleipe has ever beaten Trask was when Trask was working with the twos in the first Spring Game when McElwain was around.

Meanwhile:

Scrimmages last year: 3 - 0 Trask. (I'll give it to him on the third one where the staff said Feleipe won, if only because it was literally the only time people couldn't take down notes and Franks "won").

Spring Game 2018: Trask by a mile.

Missouri Game 2018: Trask beat Franks in every single passing category available.

First Scrimmage 2019: Trask beats Franks in every single passing category available.

Franks: 50%
Trask: 52%

Franks: 138 yards.
Trask: 143 yards.

Franks: 1/1 TD/INT
Trask: 2 TDs

Dude's never played a real snap of football in his entire life outside of the Missouri game (and some argue that it wasn't real) but routinely cleans Franks clock as a passer.

Seriously, man. I thought he was going to ball out, everyone was telling me how incredible he was going to be.

He hits 50% of his passes and has one touchdown pass and an interception.

The worst part?

He had 5 rushes for 7 yards.

This is not the type of camp I want to see at all at this point from the QBs. But...the good news is they still have months and months left to practice.

I believe if Trask was outplaying Franks in every practice / scrimmage ect like you claim, a switch wouldve been made and a player or players wouldve said something to that effect after he had a bad game. It never happened.

Players see whos their best chance to win. If the other guy is out there, they let it be known. Plus if thats the case then Mullen needs to be held accountable. Not once in any presser did I see where there was any QB controversy being hinted at by the media at the practices ect. They all claim Franks is ahead of the rest

Again, like I said last year, idgaff who the guy is, put the best of the group who gives us the best chance to win out there and lets go.

Straws must know more than Mullen. Stats over coaching in the QB room, watching film, and being there at practice. Oh and Franks goes against the ones on defense more. Trask goes against the twos and threes.

In my defense, Trask broke his foot when he would have probably played for the position last year.

However, Franks is better than Trask in several different ways:

1. He is a much better leader.

2. He is obviously less prone to injury (Trask broke his foot twice).

3. He has more live experience.

My contention is: Franks isn't a true running Quarterback, so what do we lose by adding in a better pure passer?

I 100% think Trask should have been given the lion's share of attention and development because he excels in different areas than Franks and well, our RB room is outstanding. Trask also isn't afraid to run.

1. Trask isn't a head case.

“They say every job is open right now,” Trask said. “I’m just focusing on what I can do to help the team, working to the best of my ability."

He has always been a team player, always stayed out of trouble and you never hear anyone say anything bad about the guy. Never fights, only shares positive things on Social Media in spite of having considerably worse luck than Franks.

2. He is a much better passer downfield than Franks.

3. He is very, very good in the Red Zone. Both of his passing touchdowns came in the Red Zone.

So for the moment, I think Mullen prefers leadership and running capability over downfield threat. However, if Trask takes over for Franks, we'll never go back to Franks unless Trask injures himself again.

As an addendum: I don't know more than Mullen, but I do know that Trask throws better than Franks and is far more selfless.

Those, to me, matter more in the short-term. We'll get our actual dual-threat Quarterback next year (one way or another), so why not give a career back up the chance to shine?

Not for Scrimmage, they all played against the ones throughout the day, with some plays against the twos.

Oh, and Franks was with the second string when he got sacked and cried about it.

Straws, you are the heralded QB, damn Mullen needs your insight and skillset. How come they cant recognize this?

Dude, you are just what the coaches need to hear. A beacon of knowledge

I remember fondly how you wrote that Franks would never be more than XFL guy regulated to the cobwebs. Gee. What insight.

Watching him get beat out in his first scrimmage, and the sixth consecutive matchup against a career back up kind of bolsters my position.

Again, I'm not saying I'm right or Dan Mullen is wrong.

What I am saying is that we have different value systems. If we're winning (as we are right now), everything's groovy. But you have to admit that it can be kind of fatiguing to hear about Franks having severe mental lapses every other month or so, and then of course actually losing to Trask for the second consecutive year.

Talking sense into thick fricks like you? Coming in and misrepresenting my position and then retreating every time the backup beats your guy like a drum isn't exactly a great strategy either.

All I'm saying is I expect more from a guy who started what, two or three years in high school, started two years in college and is getting all of the attention from the coaching staff.

At least you try to add to the conversation and I can respect it by giving content and updates with the occasional conversation thrown in there.

reel just likes to shoot his mouth off and is clearly uninterested in any kind of football talk that isn't pumping.
