We may be terrible, but nothing is more terrible than laying an egg with a team full of stars and upperclassmen. It reminds me a lot of Will Muschamp when he was at Florida. The only difference is that he didn't have two five star senior running backs, the offense was decent at Florida, but not like the incredible team that Richt left behind.
Then this week, Richt, at another team, absolutely destroys Notre Dame -- the marquee win that Kirby had.
Florida is down, that's for goddamn sure, but, we're missing 25 scholarship players with a lameduck coach.
I feel good about beating Georgia in the future, especially with the right hire. His defense is pisspoor against non-traditional offenses, his offense implodes when his running backs aren't working.
They had 230 yards from their offense, their five star senior running backs put up 48 yards.
Auburn had 488 yards against Georgia's ''vaunted'' defense, giving up over two hundred yards of rushing.
We make the right hire, we can win the East with ease every year.

That loss to Georgia in 2012 was when I had to dial down the fandom a bit. I was in such a foul mood by the time I finished my lecture the Monday after for the class I was teaching that I think my students were hiding under their desks.

We were # 2 in the BCS rankings then. That loss hurt like hell.

How, as a coach, do you explain that outright asswhoopin'?
It's always easy to explain: ''Hey, we need you here. We have 25 scholarship players out of the game and we need all the bodies we can get on the field to play immediately.''
How do you explain a team comprised of almost all upperclassmen in your second year (meaning they weren't his recruits) on an offense with two amazing running backs -- that you can't even keep a game close?
Not just a loss, but a horrid loss with not a single excuse available? That's a terrible look.

That was a bad bad lose for UGA. But we’ve been there and it wasn’t fun. I sure didn’t expect that from them.

No doubt we've had our share (Ole Miss, too), but everyone was talking about how great Kirby was only to watch him get stomped out like a Florida team missing all of its offensive and defensive captains along with their backups and no coach.

Kirby has recruited better so far offensively than Muschamp had at UF in 2012.
Not willing to go far and say hes a Muschamp 2.0, but that was one hell of an ugly loss.
Funny part was UGA's defense really got shredded. Their offense struggling wasn't that much of a surprise, considering for the first time all year they were forced to throw.

Jeff Driskel was also a very highly touted offensive player -- I think the problem is that you can see in the scheme just how bad it is. He has no real ''creativity'', because he runs a Saban offense without the Saban staff.
You have got to have a quick mind for offense, and everything I've seen suggests that he doesn't have what it takes, even last year.
It's eerily similar.
First year was really bad, underwhelming.
Second year was really good, stout defense and heavy on the running game.
Third year -- clear dropoff once people graduate or go to the NFL.
It's not a good look at all.

It's been said all year, when Georgia faces a team that can shite down their run game and force them to win throwing the ball, they will get exposed and lose.

The cute thing is that Georgia actually thought they could do it otherwise. I just have to wonder what's going to happen next year when there's no Chubb/Michel to get 7 yards a rush and Kirby actually has to coach the offense.

Lulz.

They'll be even quieter when they lose to Georgia Tech, then Alabama/Auburn, then their bowl game and finish 10-4

WM got 1 good QB. Smart has potentially 3. Along with an insane OL and 3 stud RBs about to replace Chubb and Michel. That's on top of the Defensive studs. He's in no way shape or form like WM.

They may lose to Aub-Bama but they aren't losing to GT

Lulz... UF went fricking full turtle on the main boards other than talking about what coach you might hire. Losing has a way of quieting up every fan base... save LSU... they'll talk shite five minutes after losing to Troy.
That game was an example of Auburn flat out executing their game plan perfectly and UGA failing to do so in almost every way. Beat on the LOS both sides, so I don't imagine we win that game at Jordan-Hare even without some of the self inflicted wounds, but go into half-time down one score instead of 2, and don't muff the punt at the beginning of the third and that's a dramatically different game. The later scores from Auburn were more a result of overly aggressive defensive calls (way way way too many blitzes which is something we've done very little of this season outside of the game) trying to manufacture havoc and get the game back in reach.
The running yards to KJ were a concern... largely because even when it appeared he'd be bottled up, he'd pop through for a minimum of 5 yards it felt like. Will be interested to see how the team responds.
Ultimately, we're ahead of schedule given that most people projected this to be a 10-2 team prior to the season... I'd say that's within reach. No one was predicting UGA wins the SEC prior to the season, we're going to Atlanta, and perhaps get a rematch against Auburn in a neutral site with some humbling game film to prep with... will see I suppose. If it's Bama, based on what we saw from the last couple of games, I'd say they at least look less dominant. Not sure I'd predict a win in either matchup, but certainly wouldn't say that we have no chance either... prior to the season, my assumption was that if we make Atlanta, it was going to be a win to just keep it close (assuming a Bama matchup) due to talent differential.
As to making the right hire... I'd say that's going to be critical. O for the last 2 right now... you know my preference is that you hire Norvell... if not him, this new Kelly buzz actually works for me. It'll be interesting to say the least. It could be an amazing hire, in which case, we could have a couple of programs in the East to finally try and rebalance from the west... if not... it will be an interesting train wreck, particularly if he lands you guys on probation. His biggest problem was LOS... he'll have access to higher quality recruits, but not sure how he'll do at getting guys that will routinely hold up to an SEC schedule on either side of the LOS.

I mean... anything's possible. Playing Tech under PJ is always a gamble. Even when you win, often times you lose due to injuries on the DL. Just have to play assignment football, set the edge, and don't let receivers get behind you... sounds easy... until you have to do it every play for 60 minutes. UT wouldn't have gotten their shite pushed in to start the season on the defensive side of the ball if they hadn't been lining up 2-3 yards off the LOS (I was at the game... it was insane). We also have a history as a program under second year DCs of limiting their offense to roughly half of the prior year's offensive production IIRC (someone did the math in a post a while back).

Brantley was a 5*, Driskel was a 5* and Treon harris was a 4*.
It is literally the same thing, and we saw the same thing happen. Run heavy, pass when need be.
The only difference is that Kirby has a remarkably weaker East than Muschamp had -- and didn't have to play Alabama like Muschamp had to.
Those defensive studs got completely ganked the entire game, almost 500 yards of offense, just like we had with Alabama and we had ''defensive studs''.
The bigger difference is that Kirby has two future NFL starting backs playing at the same time, and that he rode them to success.
But otherwise, it's exactly the same.
He has a quarterback in Fromm who appears to be like Driskel -- can't be relied on when he has to win the game with his arm, but runs pretty well.
It's almost a spitting image on how many things are similar, outside of winning the East.

We'll still be exceptional at running back. Swift, Zamir White, Holyfield, James Cook, etc.
