Straws, You are battling against the entire Gator board on this. I think I speak for most of us when I say that Franks isn't right now as good a QB as we hoped to have in 2018, but the fact is that he has been chosen by the coaching staff as the QB that gives us the best chance to win us football games. To continue blasting him, comes off more that you don't think our coaches know what they are doing than a judgement on Franks. We need to support Coach Mullen and give him time to rebuild the program, if a better option comes up at QB, I am confident that the coaches will make a move, until then Go Gators, Go Franks. in all kinds of weather, Buddy!

If FSU has a quarterback that looked like shite his freshman year, fired their coach, hired a guy that’s known to develop some of the best quarterbacks in college football history, and four games into that new coach’s first season and that same shitty quarterback’s sophomore year he’s leading the SEC in touchdown passes, I would be very nervous. I would be trying to spin it and blame it on bad competition, but deep down my thought would be “oh shite, FSU has a good coach and he’s making that bad quarterback into a quarterback that can be really good”

This is such a hot take contextually. Colorado State, CHSU and Tennessee are out of the top 50. These were terrible teams and Franks has been playing with GIFTS from the defense.

Not a single opposing team's fan thinks this, not one. Ask how many Ranters are afraid of Franks if he's the opposing Quarterback.

I think you're intellectually honest, but there are some key context you're missing and I think you're admirable for defending a player to the hilt no matter what the statistics say.

Straws has an issue with Franks or he knows Trask . Straws is normally the last guy to turn his back on coaches and he already seems to think Mullen doesn’t know anything about QBs .

Mullen is clearly going with Franks . That shows that he is either the best option right now , in the future or both . Trask doesn’t belong on the field unless the game in over . He is not as talented as Franks and is definitely not the future. Either Franks will improve or he will lose his job to Jones this year or next .

We tried to tell him that their was no way Trask was going to be the starter . Out of the 3 QBs he has the least amount of talent and experience. He didn’t even start in high school.

He hits less than 50% of his passes and severely limits the playcalling of the offense that will lead to losses later in the year that should not have happened.

It's already happened against Kentucky this year. He's not the only reason, butting hitting sub 50% and hitting the DBs hands six times is on the QB.

We've been very fortunate with turnovers the last two games, and Franks still can't complete more than 10 passes.

That's my issue.

Ranters aren’t necessarily a beacon of rational or intellectually honest football fans.

Ofcourse it has to be on the QB instead of the entire team learning the new offense... You broke down his long, short and intermediate passes. What plays are we not seeing?

He's only been hurried in the last few games 1 out of every 15 dropbacks. Sacked far less than that.

RBs are averaging 196 yards in the last two games.

The Quarterback position in two blowouts vs. the last two games has averaged 110 yards and less than 50% of the passes completions. (Stats from before the 4th Quarter)

We have had three sustained drives in the past two games. The reason we've had such ineffective offensive performance is for two things: Not having the ball very often, or having short fields, so this definitely takes effect.

However, so too does hitting less than 50% of your passes. Again: Franks can probably destroy the rest of the field IF, and ONLY IF he focuses on the checkdown.

I'm not saying he should only pass short, but if the throw isn't there take the checkdown or run.

He's been doing that much better since last year, and especially better in the Tennessee game but many times we have 3 and outs because we waste a down letting him throw intermediate passes.

Regardless of his accuracy ect, defenses have to respect his arm which keeps them from stacking up to stop the run.

It doesn't do any good if you're hitting 27% of your passes downfield.

Like I said: We have got to change his passing style this week. If we hit those numbers against teams who protect the ball and have a good defense we will be good and fricked.

Running game has exploded thepast few weeks, its not due to our 7th ranked SEC OL. Teams are staying honest

So our Quarterback not hitting 50% of his passes is to be given credit and not the OL giving him a 4 second average on dropbacks? This is way above average, and there are some downs Franks has over 5 seconds.

I mean, I understand if you're just being sarcastic or trying to make some other point, but our offensive line has been incredible in run support and pass protection the last two games.

Why do I get the feeling if we dinked and dunked allowing teams to come up to the LOS and stop our run, you'd be complaining that we never go deep??
