NHC updated forecast for Florence as of 5am:
[/img]
Barometric pressure has dropped 7mb since the last update and the winds have strengthend from 85mph to 105mph in that very short span of time as well. She's yet to reach the Gulf stream. Eye wall is very impressive.
I'm heading to Wilmington either Tuesday or Wednesday. I lived there for several yrs and moved back to SC about 2 yrs ago. Family owns a house there on Carolina Beach Road and we are taking supplies from here to there to prep for Florence. Had no damage from Sandy a few yrs back but pretty certain this time we won't be as lucky.

Hurricane hunters reported not too long ago it has taken another jog to the South. More than likely areas between Charleston and the Outer Banks are going to be evacuated. The hurricane is ~200 miles wide. They're estimating 20-40 inches of rain for a large circumference extending from the eye. Latest estimate for Cola is 10-15 inches of rain and that flooding similar to 2015 is a very real possibility.

Where are you seeing that about 15 inches of rain in Cola? Last update I saw had us around 3-5 inches.

This is my backyard in Arlington, VA - right outside of Washington, DC. This is how it floods when it just rains for 3-4 days straight.
The rain we're probably going to get from the hurricane is going to drown my little ole' apartment.

Posted the graphic on Twitter. I'll post it here when I get a chance. That was this morning. I'm sure it'll change multiple times before actual landfall.

I do think we should consider the fact that Saturday's game may be in danger.

One thing to consider is tge police force needed for each game. They very well could not be available.

I work on campus and have heard some rumors of this. They are discussing the possibility of kids from CofC and CCU possibly needing to evac to campus/Columbia. I think that Charleston is going to be safer than the MB/Conway area.

I’m honestly not sure what’s happening or paying attention
But is there a chance the game moves to Marshall?
Or would we play on a Sunday?

A lot of conflicting info. Euro (most reliable) and GFS seem to now agree the storm will shift South. The 8:00am model run also shows this. Left graphic shows updated model run and the right shows current cone of landfall forecast that's still based on prior models.

ETA: TWC now acknowledging model showing southerly shift into SC instead of NC.
ETA2: Thursday's baseball scrimmage has been cancelled "due to impending weather." Still no decision on the football game.

I will take Jim Gandy and wltx over twc. It would have to be a hell of a shift for it to hit sc dead on. Even the spaghetti maps show about 95% coming a shore in nc. I hope it stays away from us.

Landfall around Wilmington, then a slight stall, and drift west over Charlotte and the state line would be a bad scenario for us. We would probably get a ton of rain in Columbia, and you could see a cancellation if that happened.

That's what I've been seeing also. I don't know where CG is seeing her info but everything I've found is agreeing with your statement. Columbia is getting hit with thunderstorms everyday so when this comes the ground will already be saturated eith water which will lead to flooding. My concern is the police force, needed for the game, not being available due to other needs throughout the state.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'll never forget Gov. Haley basically saying SC had to move its game on the road to LSU because SC couldn't spare the resources to host the game but had 0 issues with Clemson hosting ND the week prior.
