How is saying we won't make the ncaa tourny but maybe the nit being sourpusses? Its called reality. Our ooc record screwed us. We are 5-1 which is positive but we haven't faced kentucky nor tenn either. 10-8 with at least 3 to 5 more losses isn't getting us to the dance.

This

Just making predictions isn't anything bad.

Lets us make our assumptions. If we are wrong we will eat crow.

5-1 is good but I want to be better.
Over here I talk with logic, on the rant I'll run around beating my chest that we are 5-1

Im just saying yall act like theres no hope, while our tourney resume is starting to quietly build. I read that if we go 2-1 against Auburn, OK lite, and tenn, our stock will shoot up. One down One to go

You literally said "Best we can hope for is NIT"

Thats being a sourpuss because IN REALITY like IBG said, best we can hope for is the NCAAT. Duh?

NIT is a sure thing i would think unless we tank.

Not saying that

I think as the season is going on we need the other teams to do well.

The SEC started OOC strong but now looking shitty.

I still don't think we make it but I'm going to hope we do.

Id put us around a 30 percent chance of making it, 35 if we beat OK state. Certainly better than "Best we can hope for is NIT" imo.

I mean every years "best we can hope for" is the National Title.

Which is always in the cards since winning the SEC tourney is an auto bid

gotta win in Stillwater to start.

Gamecocks will need to sweep Georgia & Texas AM. that's 9 SEC wins. beat Ole Miss, Arkansas & Alabama - all at home - and finish 12-6 in league play. win 2 games in the SECT.

19-13 with bad loses being @Wyoming, Pickens Tech and I'm conceding @Missouri as a WTF game.

Providence needs to crank it up a bit in the Big East. Stony Brook is tied for 1st in their Conf and has 16 wins overall. Wofford will finish its reg season with 26 victories and win its bid into the NCAAT. Michigan & Virginia will remain Top 10 teams (barring injury) all season.

it will be interesting to see if Minaya decides to return at all this season. Bryant has brought an athleticism as an angry rim rocker we haven't seen since Balkman. he reminds me of a slightly (2") shorter Stacey Augmon/UNLV from way back in the day

I kinda think Bryant reminds me of a slightly shorter Chris Silva, but without the fouling. He does foul, but not in the machine-gun fashion that Silva has been known to do. And he is after all a freshman.

But I agree the best we should HOPE for is national titles, but realistically after last season, and the way this team looked to start this season, reaching the NIT would be a major positive, and a step in the right direction for this team.

But I will gladly accept reaching the NCAAT if at all possible: the team has gotten top 25 ranking votes and bracketology consideration in recent days, so lets see where this all takes us. I know that past tournament selection committees have taken how teams finished their seasons into strong consideration in picking teams - if we're able to finish with a .500 or better SEC season, in a supposedly stronger SEC this season, and not just bow out in the SECT after one game, we may sway some of those folks into our camp. One game at a time....

This is actually what scares me

And I think this Big12 SEC challenge is pretty huge.

I know we don't have some of the better teams in it, but some wins where we shouldn't are big.

And Hopefully we don't have any upsets (like WVU beating UT)

Best we can hope for is NIT is not being a sourpuss especially how we started the season. I'm being realistic. We have 8 losses, some are really bad ooc losses. If we lose 5 more games, and we havent played kentucky and tenn, we are not going dancing.

Great post! I agree if we make the NIT that would be positive after the way we started. How many more losses, do you think we can have, before being 100% out of the dance.

12 losses we are out, and we need some good wins to make up for it. 11 losses, 2 wins in SEC Tourney, and maybe another ranked win?

Beat Tennessee and its an auto bid

Pretty good article on 2 top 5 picks in this coming NBA draft.

Both from the state.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but this Morant kid left basically unnoticed.

Does our staff even attempt to recruit in the state?

One issue is there are people, instate, that get in these kids ears and push them away from USC. The main one is Senator Paster Daryl Jackson's son here in Columbia. He has told the kids they can't achieve success here and helps get them out of state. He is involved with the aau around here.

to be fair, that article says we gave him a look.
Not sure if this means a scholarship was offered
quote:

According to Tee Morant, 13 Division I programs made official courtships for Ja, including Frank Martin's South Carolina Gamecocks. (Tee Morant said Clemson was interested, too, but didn't have an available scholarship on the table.) Regardless, most schools only came calling after Murray State found him.

I know rankings aren't the end all but he wasn't even rated and from that article played for a less known AAU team without a shoe company backing them.

if all that story is true about him (being that good in AAU with Zion) he should have played for a much better AAU team.

you think this guy just says it about both programs?
It's not like Clemson is lighting it up either.
