VT fans desperately wanted Shane.

Granted, that was based on the same stuff that got him the job here. Former players lobbied, and hard, for him.

I ain't excited. But, it's a bigger risk for shane, honestly. He gets one shot for his first HC gig.

Disagree this is a huge risk with beamer, if he fails we are set back even further. You had Hugh Freeze, Billy Napier, and Jamey Chadwell and you pick Shane Beamer. Mind blowing

Who would’ve thought two baseball nattys would lead to the destroy of the football program.

Winning those titles was the worst thing to ever happen to us.

Chad Holbrook fricked our entire athletic department because his sissy arse got homesick for North Carolina. We should have told him to piss off

We legit paid what's gonna end up to almost 20 million to get a te coach, that is a pathetic coaching search and anyone who can't see that is been brainwashed by the pro beamer buddies in the media

Sorry, but this isn’t true. Anecdotally, I know quite a few VT grads who have told me they don’t want Shane. Not only because they want to move on from the Beamer name, but they don’t believe he was even qualified.

It’s also evident by the fact that VT hasn’t even fired their trainwreck of a coach, which would be a prerequisite to speak with a supposed hot commodity like Shane.

We’re the only fanbase that has convinced ourselves that a journeyman position coach who has never called plays or built a staff is the right guy to lead a Top 15 program with fan support near an all-time low.

But, you know, all aboard!

There was exponentially more enthusiasm for the Muschamp hire than a Beamer hire. At the time, there was logic and rational reasons to believe Muschamp could be a decent HC (was a great DC at multiple stops, good recruiter, HC experience).

There is zero reason for us to believe this is anything other than a shite hire. Not only that, but we had several other great options we could have easily had, that wanted in, and we told them to frick off.

May not be. Their 24/7 board is currently in mourning,a little bit. Plus, there were interviews with former Hokies such as DeAngelo Hall who spoke very highly of Shane as a head coach.

I'm not a huge fan of this. I wanted Chadwell. Legacies very rarely ever pan out.

Yep. I think we had to rationalize the Muschamp hire because the pool of candidates that year was extremely slim.

That was the exact opposite this time around. I can’t rationalize how this is the right move. I just hope I’m proven wrong. I want so badly to be dead wrong.

Disagree. Very much so. The fan base was not happy with the champ hire, and the ones that were mostly were just okay with it.

Several are excited about the Beamer hirer, including myself.

Our 24/7 board would indicate that our entire fanbase believes Beamer is literally Bill Belichick.

I’m just totally perplexed as to how so many are convinced he will do all the things necessary to run a successful program with ZERO tangible evidence to base it on. I guess our insiders who wanted to provide cover for their old buddy are as guilty as anyone.

I was born and raised in Conway. I live in Conway. I went to Bonfire BBQ tonight to pick up supper for a family gathering and downtown Conway looked like the Vista on a USC gameday. There were flags all around, stenciled roosters on the sidewalk and everyone had Coastal apparel on. Walking into Bonfire felt like going to Wild Wing Cafe when the Gamecocks are playing. This is at Coastal Carolina, a team that didn't have a football program until 2003 and has had almost no fan support, even when they were a #1 ranked FCS team. Chadwell did this at North Greenville. He did this at Charleston Southern. He's done this at Coastal Carolina. And it's obvious we didn't even consider him for the job because we announced Beamer just hours after Chadwell's Coastal team beat BYU to go to 10-0. Hate is a strong word, but I hate Ray Tanner and every member of our BOT.

I don’t understand why this administration thinks we wanted Muschamp gone so we could get someone like Beamer.

We weren’t happy because he was clearly a lower tier option and the good ones (smart, Herman, fuente) went to other programs despite us having a significant head start on them. Like I said though, Muschamp had some positives for him in 2015 that you could mark as pros in a pros/cons checklist.

I can’t think of a single thing to put in the pros columns for Beamer. Not one.

The administration doesn’t care about what we want. They care about what former players want, apparently.

I don’t even know why I’m disappointed. Ray Tanner was leading this search. Of course it was going to be a giant flaming turd.
