Who do you guys think the OC will be? When do you all think it will be announced?

Who knows. Gotta give Boom credit for keeping it under wraps though. The guy has solid SecOps in place, pardon the pun.
It's almost gotta be BMac though, I would think. I mean BMac uses the second half of the OB to get a raise and new title or he jumps ship? The guy can recruit and coach.
That doesn't mean we still would bring-in a play caller because we'd still have two schollies to give if we didn't go after another defensive coach.

So here is what we know right now:
1)Drinkwitz from NC State is out. It was reported he's staying in Raleigh. No way to know if he was ever a serious contender or of this is another one of those guys who released his name to try to get more $$.
2) Muschamp wants to keep BMac. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be the playcaller but he could get a bump in pay/promotion in title and we still go outside for the play caller.
3) We know that Muschamp TYPICALLY likes to hire guys who are connected to him somehow, whether they worked together at some point or they worked with someone that Muschamp respects. Coaching on every level is like most business, relationships are everything.
I personally think that Lashlee is still on the table, Kendal Briles has recently gone from "no way not happening" to someone that Muschamp could entertain (He did speak with Kiffin at bowl practice about the OC hire, Briles is currently Lane's OC) however because of his age hiring him may rub the older guys the wrong way. The Wake OC and Longo are guys that have been mentioned but idk how hard they are being looked at.
The more difficult question for me atm is if BMac is promoted to OC, how do we fill his role on the staff? The main issue with this hire, as with any hire, is the perception. Everyone's been in a frenzy about who the next OC could be and if it's BMac, there is no way that the guy hired to be a position coach will be met with anywhere near the excitement as the potentials for new OC. I would imagine that Bobby slides over to full time QB Coach, then it would be whether BMac Coaches WR or RBs as he's done both in the past.
EDIT:
Holy Crap I just realized BMac is only 34. Never mind.

If we could get Briles I'm all for it...media be damned. Win games is all I care about, then throw money at BMac to stay as ahc. Otherwise hire BMac.
Way too optimistic scenario we hire Sumlin as a bridge and then promise BMac the job after sumlin moves on next year.

Thats my only hesitation with BMac. Usually when you promote from within, especially when you're promoting a play caller who has never called plays, there is a scheme in place that is having a high level of success. We don't have that. Asking Bmac to basically just mimic what he saw a successful OC do is one thing, asking him to come up with something completely on his own is quite another.

Hyams, a reporter for the vololols, said that bmac will not be a part of their staff next year, but is also not expected to be a part off our staff either.

That's what I am hearing, too.

Hyams, other than the UT HC fiasco that left everyone with egg on their face, is typically a well connected reporter up there.

I don't know much about him, but I heard it from someone else that he was heading out. Chris Clark on GCCentral is claiming that he is staying put.

Looks like they latched on to the Hyams' quote. I don't know how legit those guys are.

Theres a lot of conflicting info apparently. Hyams says out. Tony Morrell said that his sources are saying more likely to stay in some capacity than to leave.

Looking like it is bmac now.

Yeah, I've known Jimmy for two decades. Typically, he does his homework but he is a raging Vol homer.
I just hung up the phone with my friend who usually gets info as good as mine although often from the same sources ... he said BMac is staying.
Raises are coming for everyone.

here's an attempt at how our staff might look per 247
quote:
My guess is it's going to look like this...
RB/OC- McClendon
QB- Bentley
WR- Washington
TE/ST- Larry Scott
OL- Wolford
DC/DB- Robinson
LB/ST- Hutzler
BUCK- Peterson
DL- Travis Jones from the Seahawks (if Lance Thompson leaves)
DL- Kyle Krantz (possibly)

I really hope Muschamp knows what he's doing.

Muschamp has us on the right path so I'll trust him if he hires BMac as OC.
I liked BMac's halftime adjustments. That is a critical attribute needed in a play caller.

So, and I ask this for a reason ... was there something said during Monday's bowl game broadcast by the ESPN announcers about our Civil War history in this state and our need to have two black coordinators to make things right or something?
It was a topic of discussion by the group sitting behind us at the basketball game and I couldn't quite get all of it. I know one of the guys and I turned to ask him about it but he was so pissed about it that he just said he was too pissed about it to talk about it but that we were feeling pressure to name BMac OC because of the racial component and what the ESPN announcers had stirred-up ... fearful that it could be used against us in recruiting thanks to ESPN.
I came away so confused. Someone help me out here. I have not had time to watch the DVR'd game yet. What point in the broadcast did it happen?
I think BMac will make a fine OC btw. He's a smart guy and has earned the chance IMHO. Helluva recruiter, loyal to us and Boom, well-liked by his players.
Bentley to QB coach is not a bad move I guess. I'm not completely sure that's gonna happen but I could see it I guess.
BMac moved to RB coach makes sense given his history plus we are counting on him to sign some major major scores at RB ... we gotta have them.
This is all veey heady, very strategic, stuff. This is 3D chess with our staff. mUSChamp is reaching out for a lot of advice which is normally out of his wheelhouse.
T-Rob set the pace for keeping this staff together.
Where are the rumors coming-from that Lance is leaving?
Also, fwiw, I seriously doubt Lawing returns knowing how his wife feels about putting him back within reach of a couple of his former mistresses in this area.
These are fun times. All of this means, to me, that we are finally playing the game like the big boys play the game. We're in the same arena at least.
