The worst part is, this is the absolute best year to pick up from the portal yet. Everyone free to go, an entire senior class given an extra year of eligibility, easily the most activity yet. And we get the mediocre G5 kids...

If Beamer can throw a clipboard half as well as Kiffin then he can be coach for the next 10 years.

I may go back to my 1999 mindset. No hope of winning, so nothing to worry about. It was a lot more fun than watching our slow inexorable decline since Spurrier checked out.

I still blame the decline on Brad Lawing.

Don't forget the division 3 superstars we got...

It reminds me of Holtz's 1st recruiting class where he was throwing out offers to anyone that would say yes. At the end he offered and signed the Irmo hs QB to play safety and the kid ran like a 5.2 40 and had the athletic skill set of a tree trunk.

Shoot I'd take a tree trunk running a 5.2 that can catch a football at safety, corner or reciever at this point lol. I don't get how we hire a bunch of G5 coaches to an SEC school, and they can't even get one decent player a piece to follow them. Still a far cry from even a decent SEC class, but dang we're barely getting bodies to try to build some kinda hype with.

Because we allow it, thats the plane truth/ We're the most passive and loyal fan base in football. Name another SEC team besides Vandy, where the admin's would even think about hiring this pile of dog shite? None, because they know they'd have a meltdown on their hands that would make a BLM riot look like a Naples Backgamon Tourney.

This was nothing more than throwing the upset peasants some hush puppies.

Oh and Vandy just out recruited us. So for all you nancy's making excuses for Beamer. Their previous coach was far shittier than ours. And the incoming coach still managed to hold on to what was in the pipe.

What's sad is that would be an improvement and we would then have to listen to the " we're moving in the right direction " crowd.

You're correct that 9 win season was a albatross that Muschamp hung around the fans neck.

Well this is South Carolina, and we like to be different, however ill-advised. But part of me wonders if we're not taking a shot to replicate clemson's approach. If I had to pick the known commodity between the two at the time they were hired, Beamer>Dabo. The biggest name clemson has ever hired since has been Venables, and even he just gets away with overdone aggression that usually wins because of talent differential.

So while I can't find much to point to for optimism, I'm not going to fully write us off until we see something on the field. While also admitting everything else done so far breeds far more concern than reassurance.

That didn't hurt us anywhere as bad as naming JR. as the recruiting Cordinator.

That point I will concede, though they do go a little hand in hand. Jr was a terrible recruiting coordinator

We just picked up a graduate transfer DB from Assumption college and beat out greater Connecticut tech for his services. Beamer showing that recruiting power again.
