Anyone with me? I'm in the doldrums since 2013 and long for the days where we were relevant. I hate going into every damn game thinking we're about to lose.

I'm really not too worried or upset.
And I'm probably in the minority here, but I really don't ever see us winning a national title, and I'm completely fine with that. There's no parity in college football, it's the same 7-8 teams, nothing has changed much.
At the end of the day we have a big time college football team who's games are televised on a weekly basis. We are able to enjoy on Saturdays in the fall win or lose. It's a way to bring back family and friends who you shared some magical memories with at the University of South Carolina, whether at the game or far away and watching at your home or a bar.
I wouldn't trade it for anything.

the entire East sucks and has since 2014. the East will suck again in 2017. USC is a competant OL & QB away from winning 4+ division games yearly again soon. there's 2 more East home games that can be won this year if the OL performs with any consistency. Muschamp has the Gamecock D just 6 ppg removed from LSU's top-ranked scoring D in SEC play this year.
broad scope - it's the West divide that has me concerned. hogs come to Cola in 2017 and we travel to TxAM. not sure we fix our West problem anytime soon. 5 wins, 12 losses going back to 2010.

2014 - #21 TxAM L, at #5 Auburn L
2013 - at Ark W, MSU W
2012 - at #9 LSU L, Ark W

Carolina should have lobbied like hell in 2014 to get our original cross-division opponent Mississippi St back when Arkansas was paired with Missouri. Kentucky & Texas AM could've played annually for the Billy Gillespie breathalyzer trophy.

I'm cautiously optimistic. We'll return 17-18 starters after starting a lot of freshmen and sophomores this season.
However, you are correct that the East has been very down lately and it does not appear that either Tennessee or Florida will return to their former dominance within the next couple of years, so there absolutely is the opportunity for USC to get back to relevance in the division.

It's fun knowing that no matter how bad any of us are, it's still a lot easier for us to win the division than anyone in the west not named Bama.

2010-2013 were awesome, but I agree with you on your last paragraph. As great as the wins and big games are, I have just as much of fun catching up with all of my friends from college who aren't local seven weekends per year.

Just referring to the fact that we expected to win rather than lose those years. Winning is fun to me, I enjoy it, buts it not the end all for what makes Saturday's in the fall great.

I've been doing this Gamecock fan thing for a lot of years .... we've come a long ways. I may not live long enough to see it but all the pieces are now in place, we're getting there. We'll be very consistent soon enough.
