Yes or no. Please explain your answer.

quote:

Marcus Lattimore would show up at 5:45 a.m. and run the punishment with his teammates who missed breakfast check or study hall. Sometimes this punishment included running the entire Williams Brice stadium steps. At one of the punishments, a teammate of Lattimore's looking at Marcus and saying,

"You didn't miss anything, why are you here?"

And Lattimore replying, "I'm here because you're here."

In all my years of playing, coaching, or watching athletics, I cannot think of a better example of leadership. (Or a better explanation of why Lattimore was capable of 40 carries in an SEC football game!) Marcus Lattimore is the single most influential force in South Carolina football history.

No. There are guys we don’t hear a lot about who are equally as high character. Jay Urich is one. That walk-on LB Spencer is another. Joyner is another.

I think Hilinski gets the pub because of his situation, and while I think he’s a great kid with extremely high character, I just think there are others who are on that level.

This definitely
I think there are always a number of high character players on all teams
The media will just put it out more for the better ones, so we hear about it more

Do you knock his character for what he did at Furman?

I tend to agree with this, and almost titled the post high character/High profile player because of this. Perry Orth and Dylan Thompson also come to mind.

Either way, he's an asset to the team on and off the field.

No. Maybe the highest character high profile recruit. There are guys on the team like Donnell Stanley, Kobe Smith, Kiel Pollard (coaching due to injury), etc. who are incredible people with incredible character as well.

I wish I could find the story but I very vividly remember this one.

After the 2010 @UF game where he rushed for over 200 yards he and the team celebrated with some fans at Williams-Brice (we had just won the East). Because the game was at night and on the road, said celebration didn't occur until well after midnight.

Well, apparently the next morning he woke up and went to speak to a church. Apparently he didn't tell his coaches about it because if he had they would have told him he couldn't go.

Obviously, it's well-known that Lattimore is a man of faith, but if I recall correctly he also said he went simply because he told the church he would. He's also a man of his word.

In all honesty no one can answer that question because we are not personally involved with him.
