Any chance he finds a way onto the staff for next year? Will we have any coaching shake up?

The reason I ask is that his name has been floated around a ton, he is back in Columbia a good bit (on Kimrey's podcast the other week), and he would be an upgrade at DL coach from LT.

Has anyone heard anything? Rooster? I know Lance is probably the shakiest guy in terms of longevity on our current staff, but does anyone have any concrete evidence that he may leave at season's end?

I only know what I was told this morning at breakfast.

He wants to coach here if the money is right and there is an opening.

There may be.

If not, he's probably off to UNC to join Mack Brown.

If that happens expect our state of NC recruiting to take a hit because Mack is the master and Brad is maybe the best at recruiting the state of NC.

A lot is going on within our staff right now and who knows when it will end and where it might take us but I would love to see it end a certain way in our favor. I think the chances are about 50-50 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Move one coach here, another here, slide one over there, slip another one over yonder and suddenly it all fits for the new guy coming in.

For what its worth I know Muschamp was pretty ticked about Thompsons attempt to flip to Tennessee's staff. I could see him wanting someone better that he could trust.

And also maybe someone whos not a skeevy rat like LT. I'm not a fan, and the rumors surrounding him are not fantastic. I'm good with that change for sure.

Of course Lawing doesn't really have the best off the field rep either. So it comes down to who can coach the immense DLine talent we are about to have coming in. Lawings my vote

I know this happened last year right when they hired Pruitt. Is there interest again?

Rooster, any ideas on who Mack would be hiring at UNC as his OC and DC?

He is a good coach, just has a lot of off the field stuff, ex-wife stuff, things like that I believe.

He coached and recruited some stud DL here. Clowney, Ingram, Robertson, Matthews, Taylor - those guys.

According to them he was causing friction between the other coaches. Kinda eye opening that fisher didn't take him with him and taggert didn't want him. Some of the older fans may want him back but they forget the times we also wanted him gone. I guess time will tell.

He does have experience working with Muschamp and there were also some really good times with him here. He didn't really leave here on the best if terms.

Rumor was also that he blew the recruitment of Carols Dunlap. Was supposed to be a sure gamecock but Lawing showed up drunk or something of that nature. Don't know if this is true or not. I remember fans complaining about his recruiting abilities when he was here. I think we can do better. We need coaches who can recruit and develop. We don't have the other things in place to overcome someone who is not a complete coach. I get the impression LT has been on thin ice with Muschamp. I think he did some recruiting damage when he was flirting w/ the vols. Might has cost us a recruit. Wouldn't be surprised if he moved on. Again, I think we can do better. I have no worries w/Muschamp and his ability to make good defensive hires.

Carlos Dunlap went to Florida because Florida got his mom into the equation for Cam wages.

I feel like LT has been a little bit of a letdown since he got here. I know Darius English immediately improved his productivity that first year, and Wonnum and Kinlaw have been ok, but our DL has been extremely underwhelming over the last three years. We haven't been able to recruit OR develop any real game-changers. Pickens, and to an extent Sandidge, are the only two guys who have jumped off the page in that way.

... and because Charlie Strong was the lead guy recruiting him and his mother and when he left us for UF he basically took Dunlap with him.

Brad caught the flack but it wasn't on him.

Now, there is the whole Vonnie Holiday story ... Mack was in on that.

In full disclosure, I've known Mack most of my life. He and I had the same Godfather, Coach John Cobb, who died just a couple of years ago. Mack has been by the Cockaboose. He's a good guy. We'd better be ready for what he is going to do recruiting-wise in NC. Boom will tell you that he learned a lot about recruiting from Mack.

He'll assemble a solid staff but he can't really compete against us in terms of money or SEC affiliation when it comes to coaches in this region ... but he'll hire recruiters. He's got a ton of contacts. I would be fine with him taking Lance and us getting Brad. Brad gets a bad rap for the way he left us but he had no choice at the time and even SPURrier understood that.

As far as who Mack may try to hire as OC and DC I have no clue but I doubt he would offer Brad the DC job. He'll be very particular.

ETA: He's already poached the TE coach from A&M. LINK

You say Lawing had no choice when he left us when the fact is it was all his fault from the get go. So yes he had a choice but decided wrong and there was no choice but to get him out of town.

so basically when your ex wife is on the warpath because she found you plugged into the wrong hole, you really don't have a choice but comply with her demands or face the wrath of an angry woman that can and will destroy you in many facets of life. Let's not act like no one here has dealt with divorce in some way, shape, or form.

Maybe Brad just needs to stay unmarried to avoid his indiscretions.

But for once let's not turn this into who has the bigger inside info here. Rooster has always brought in good solid info for those that are interested in that sort of thing. And no one except some of the newer posters really give a damn about all the E-credibility some of y'all are trying to build.

Bring the info you have or don't, but stop trying to crush everyone else's stories to promote your own.

I'm not trying to say I have more inside information than anyone, especially rooster, because I know I don't however, your 1st paragraph is what I was talking about. It was Lawing's choice to cheat and break his vows so it was his fault how it turned out. He also should stay away from alcohol.
Lawing is an ok dl coach, not some master that other's would have you believe. Don't forget he was the dl coach when we were making opposing running backs, like d. Mcfadden from Arkansas, look like all-world and trust me the Carolina fans wanted him gone then. I think we can do better.

So telling a different view of the story is crushing the other person? So because a certain poster, not rooster just in general, has been here longer than others the new posters should just fall in line and not question or dispute that poster huh?
