I hope you're right. That would make an insane run.

2012 - Nosovitch who was a Parade All American (for any of the younger guys, that was THE award back in the day for a guy coming out of HS...before the recruiting sites and star rankings.)

2013 - Mitch holds a trunk load of records and is all over the NC high school record books. Mitch has the top 3 games for most passing yards in their recorded history.
NCHSAA Records Just search for Mitch's name, you'll see them all.

*Fun Fact* If you look at the 14 Top QB performances by total passing yards in a game in NC HS football history, Mitch has 4 of them, including 1st 2nd and 3rd place (3 games of over 600 yards each.)

'14 QB prospect Drew Barker committed to Kentucky today. Pretty disappointing for me to say the least, considering we put all our 2014 cycle eggs in his basket. 2014 was supposed to be a great class for the QB position and we were supposed to focus on bringing in a real blue-chipper.

GA Mangus needs to ramp up the effort for the '15 class, and perhaps not pigeon-hole himself into just one kid....

Yep, we had Park from Goose Creek in state, and now we have virtually no shot with him, b/c we hitched our horse to one wagon.

I don't mind Mangus focusing on one kid this cycle as we don't need a QB this class anyway. He could focus on the guy he wanted the most and put his effort in there. Without the coaching change in Lexington we would have had him walking away. Thems the breaks. Getting Barker would have been a nice bonus, but in no way sinks this class without him in it.

Well, recruiting is getting a little harder to predict.

Barker is no longer an option, and he was our only QB option, so it looks like we might not take one this class. QB wasn't a position of need, so it's not a great loss. The only other QB being mentioned right now is Tyler Harris from GA, but we haven't offered.

Chubb and Scott are our 2 main targets for RB/APB. We now might now try to sign both if we aren't pursuing a QB (I'm just speculating on that.)

Terry Googer is coming in with BAW and a couple of other really good recruits on the 18th. Googer very well be our next commitment.

We're still in Hand's Top 5, but Mich and VaTech are still in the lead. Deke went up to see him and Andrew Brown this past week.

We might have slipped with Poona Ford. However, we are still in a good position with Newell and Wideman. Also we are in a good position with around 12 other high profile recruits. This still could be an exceptional class if we get most of them.

Good news on a WR recruit for next year.

From a PK article:

WR DJ Neal of Stone Mountain, GA confirmed Monday night what he had tweeted out Sunday night. He will commit to USC Thursday following his spring game. The game will commence at 5:00 PM. Neal said he's looked closely at the Gamecock program and the chance for early playing time was big to him. "I just looked at the depth chart," he said. "And I went there and the coaching staff, they were great. I feel like I fit in around the program. The school is just nice. I got along with most of the players. But the depth chart is what really pulled me towards South Carolina." Neal said he caught 91 passes last season for just under 1000 yards and he believes he can be an asset in the USC offense. "I will be able to make big plays for them," he said. "Blocking wise, I'll have that down pat by the time I get to South Carolina. It's just being a play maker." Neal said Tennessee and Clemson were the next two on his list. He also has offers from Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Michigan State and others. He knows the recruiting pressure won't end with a commitment to USC. "I'm not going to be really looking at any other schools," he said. "I might still take visits but it's going to be pretty hard to pull me away unless something happens with the depth chart. That's the only thing that might change my mind. I've got my mind set on where I'm going to school." Neal will become USC's first commitment for the 2015 class when he makes his pledge.

PK Article

I'm a little perplexed by the depth chart comment. We have a lot of really great young receivers and are leaders for 2 of this cycle's best (Davidson and Googer.) Hopefully we can hold onto his commitment.

BAW (Brison Allen-Williams) is saying he's bringing a secret visitor this weekend? Speculate away, I have no idea who it is.

Quick update.

It appears we are out of it with Spain and Poona. It's cool, we have several other targets at their position.

Malik Young is going to commit soon to USC, he's an OG from SC on a "not very good" HS team, however, his coaches think he's D1 level and Elliot offered him after seeing him.

Chubb was supposed to announce today, but it's up in the air. His visit to us was delayed b/c both his parents didn't get off of work on Monday. He may push back the announcement, but I'm still thinking he goes to UGA. Although, if he delays the announcement and pays his own way to come to USC to visit, we might have more of a shot than I thought.

Crosby is getting ready to announce in the next couple of weeks. He should be announcing for the Gamecocks.

Shaq Davidson went to Auburn over the weekend, but still has USC as the leader.

JC Shurburrt: Gamecocks offered Top247 athlete Noah Brown last week.

If we miss out on Chubb and Scott, then this will be our RB this cycle. Not saying he's high on us or anything yet, but we are having more success up north recently, particularly in NJ.

The kid is no Chubb, but his size, speed and quickness are impressive. Watching the video, his cuts remind me of McFadden and AP. Has a big frame that could add weight without losing too much quickness and eventually be a serious bruiser with potential breakaway speed.

Still hoping for Chubb at this point, but as he is a UGA lean, I would expect us to go after Brown and Scott harder after Chubb commits (if it is not to USC).

Talk about blowing leads. Not sure why this staff can't seem to close on kids we lead big with. Although I have been hearing that there is a lot of misinformation regarding Poona's recruitment. Some sources say he is out, but he has been on record saying we are in it. Not sure what to think on that.

Chubb is visiting USC today, but without his parents. His announcement should come soon after the visit, but it might not happen until the weekend.

APB Scott just named us his leader on rivals. We were already his named leader on 247.

I wish we could take both those guys, b/c they do actually play separate positions in our scheme. Chubb is a 1st and 2nd down bruiser while Scott is a scat back for 3rd down or long yardage downs. Scott also has good hands and we could even move him to receiver and/or returner.

Kevin Crosby Jr. Commits!

Kevin Crosby Jr. committed to USC today at noon! Crosby was offered by the Gamecocks 2 years ago...he initially favored Clemson and also Bama for a bit, but USC recruited him with a chance to start out at halfback/TE, while the others mostly wanted him at LB (he excels at both positions), and he wants to play offense.

Kevin is a 5.8 4* and 12th TE overall per Rivals, and a 90-grade 4* per 24/7 sports. He has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Vanderbilt, Miss St., SoCal, Notre Dame, FSU, OSU, Michigan, UNC, NCSU, GT among others. Crosby is USC's 5th commitment for the 2014 class...

Awesome! Crosby is like Rainey in that he's just a straight up athlete an we could use him at a variety of positions.

This is really great news!

DT/DE/TE Peyton Newell is set to announce Aug 30th. He has a top 6 of USC, UGA Neb, KU, KSU and So Cal. HOWEVER, he will only visit Nebraska and USC before his visit, he's coming to our Showcase!

He's still projected to go to Nebraska but most recruiting services. However he's been mentioning us a lot recently. We'll see what happens.
