How do you know that's why he quit?

I don't know if he was outgunned but the timing seems fishy. If he was to lose his starting spot that would be a huge hit to him getting drafted.

Because that is the only reason a driven competitor quits. He now has quit 2 times in one year on 2 different teams.

Wake has never had nor ever will have a number 1 qb coming out of his or going nfl for that matter.
This is an absurd argument. If you go look at all of the starting QBs in the NFL right now who were first round picks, the list looks like this:
Boston College (Matt Ryan)
Louisville (Teddy Bridgewater, Lamar Jackson)
NDSU (Carson Wentz)
Ohio State (Dwayne Haskins)
Duke (Daniel Jones)
Cal (Aaron Rodgers, Jared Goff)
UNC (Mitch Trubisky)
Georgia (Matt Stafford)
Oklahoma (Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield)
NC State (Philip Rivers)
Texas A&M (Ryan Tannehill)
Clemson (Deshaun Watson)
USC (Sam Darnold)
Wyoming (Josh Allen)
Auburn (Cam Newton)
LSU (Joe Burrow)
Miami of Ohio (Ben Roethlisberger)
Texas Tech (Patrick Mahomes)
I don't think anyone would consider BC, Miami (OH), Duke, Wyoming, Cal, or NDSU among the top tier elite college football programs. I would be curious to see the recruiting rankings on those guys, but I know Baker Mayfield was a walk on, Goff and Rodgers started at JuCo because no one wanted them, and Allen, Ryan, Jones, Wentz, and Bridgewater were all fairly lightly recruited. Some guys are late bloomers for whatever reason.

JT has plenty of arms trengrh, he can zip a 15 yard out. Newman quit because he was out gunned, shouldn't be a surprise. JT was the other #1 as vs TL and JF.
Just stop man
Newman was going to start for us until he was talked out of it.
Saying a QB can’t start or be good in the NFL because he went to Wake is such a load of crap too. Have you seen where a lot of the NFL starters went to school?

More than likely but from all reports it was no slam dunk he was gonna keep his job.

Agree with this.

Not talking about the other schools, who was the last even decent nfl qb who played at Wake Florist?
Certainly great QBs can come from other places but in this case there was an enormous disparity between recruiting rankings ,high school career, where they played in college. Etc...
