Decision making and arm strength. Oddly, probably the next closest thing to Burrow.

Take a peek... JT Daniels

Impressive film. Not sure who I’d prefer skill-wise to be the starter between him and Mathis but I’m pulling for Mathis from the human interest perspective.

May the best player win the spot.

Having watched all the film on JT and Newman , it's no wonder Newman left. There is no comparison.

Hell Daniels is also more athletic, more accurate, his excapability is off the charts.

He was the other number 1 vs lawrence and fields for a reason. USC is a dumpster fire even if they did play.

Anyone that would change their pick to UF because Newman left is dumb as frick.

I’m with you, Porter. I think JT is more athletic than Fromm, not sure I would say he’s more athletic than Newman. I also don’t think the kid has a cannon as some have suggested. I watched his USC film, which in my opinion is more indicative of what we are getting than HS footage of Mater Dei beating frick out inferior competition. What I saw at USC was an arm maybe a tiny bit stronger than Jakes, more mobility and a greater proclivity to throw the ball into trouble/up for grabs than Jake ever did.

He threw the ball 58 yards for a 64 yard reception in the texas game. How much more arm you want?

Newman, more like a Steve McNair, not super athletic.

I would say Daniels is shiftier and has faster foot speed than Newman. If not it's comparable. Actually 4.9 40 versus 4.8 40. Neither a burner.

Again, reminds me of Burrow. Hope he plays like him.

We haven't had an elite passing game since Murray. It would be nice to see a UGA game where the opposing defense doesn't have 8 men in the box . I'm not quite sold on Daniels just yet, but I believe Monken is the sort of guy who can bring us the dangerous passing game we've been missing for years.

I wonder how many former UGA QB’s wish they were here. They’d have an opportunity with Monken. Fromm went late in the draft and Fields isn’t playing football this year.

Newman looked a bit slow to me. Not very explosive on his runs. A lot of his rushing yards came from designed runs with that wonky read option Wake ran. I think he was a more polished passer than runner if in being honest. He’s not a pocket passer but Newman wasn’t going to run away from SEC linebackers, imho.

Yea I think Newman's athleticism was overstated. He's not Lamar Jackson, more like Jalen Hurts as a runner. He can bust one up a seam but he's probably not running around anyone.

Throwing for distance and throwing with velocity are not the same thing. Is he loading up like Flutie to Phelan on this 58 yard pass or is he flipping it 58 yards on a frozen rope like it’s nothing.

I’m 48 years old and I can throw a football about 45-50 yards in the air, but it’s going to be a dying quail when it gets there.

Recency bias should also be used towards Daniels if someone is going to use that at all

And his USC film does not indicate he is Burrow at all.

That is an awful comparison, IMO. McNair was a very good athlete who was quick on his feet. Newman was more of a discount Dak Prescott type of runner.

McNair made the most of what he had, he is was a slow stiff runner with good instincts of when to run. Like elway.

McNair is my favorite all time nfl qb. His toughness was staying in the pocket and getting the ball off no matter the hit.

You kidding yourself if you think you can throw a College or NFL ball 45-50 yards at 48 unless you have been throwing all along.

JT's pass was a flip under pressure and it got on target pretty quick.

I know how far I can throw a football. I have 2 sons I throw with. My point was simply that the distance means little without velocity. Now, you answered the question I asked about JT’s throw. Thank you. I must have missed it when I watched his USC highlights. Most of his longer throws looked like Jake throwing the ball downfield in my opinion. But, if he has that kind of arm talent, I will be happy to see it between the hedges this fall.

Jakes velocity is 54 mph, standard in Nfl is 55, Brady hit 61 at times.

People also say BVG, next year's QB1, arm is not a cannon but it is.

JT has plenty of arms trengrh, he can zip a 15 yard out. Newman quit because he was out gunned, shouldn't be a surprise. JT was the other #1 as vs TL and JF. Wake has never had nor ever will have a number 1 qb coming out of his or going nfl for that matter.
