The refs made a huge impact on the game in the 2nd half.

I'm not blaming the refs for the loss but they called it unbelievably tight in the beginning of the 2nd half. It cost us JD and we couldn't play the more physical style that started giving Baylor trouble.
That allowed Baylor to just isolate and drive. We couldn't even breathe on anyone too hard. Kind of a joke really. If they were going to call touch fouls then we should have put the hammer down on Mitchell a few times. No free rides here.

We did. The guys had no clue how to play the game honestly.
It was inconsistent BS with a bunch of make up call
Nonsense.
Typical NCAA.
Screw Baylor and their raping, cheating non existent program. I could literally count their fans on one hand at the game.

It was even more absurd given how much more physical Baylor was playing on defense. I'm all for physical defense but let both teams play that way. Also ban the charge.

Block/charge calls are way too confusing now. A player can slide right into someone at the absolute last second and it’s a charge. Notae got hosed on the last charge call.

Yeah. Standing there intentionally creating a collision isn't defense. Offensive player pushes off and extends his arm? Yeah that's a foul. You get trucked by an out of control guy driving into the lane? Definitely. But standing in the lane covering your junk and falling over at the slightest contact by a guy half your size is bullshite.

Smith’s 4th foul was also one of the more bullshite calls I’ve seen. He did everything possible to not get called including giving up position, rotating his body away and putting his hands straight up to ensure no contact and still got whistled for it. That was ridiculous.

I actually agree. The point about the inconsistency in calls can be traced to the different refs making the calls. Sadly, we had the 'tick tack' guy on the side we wanted to attack more often.
Baylor is the better team, probably win 7 of 10 from us, but we did have a run that got shut down by this inconsistent calls issue.
To be honest, we lost largely because Moody just hit a stretch of games where he wasn't playing his A game. Supporting cast carried us very well, but when your 'hoss' player performs at about 25% of normal output...you tend to struggle.

The whole game was called poorly, although I expected it.

I was glad that Muss finally just let his guys play until they were out of fouls. You should coach every game with that mentality IMO.

quote:I lost my shite when Justin Smith got called for a foul when all he did was literally turn and jump toward the backboard with his hands straight up. He literally wasn't even engaging the offensive player, in fact, he wasn't even looking at him. Just cutting off his path to the rim, but the offensive player jumps into him and Smith gets a foul.

That's when I looked at my dad and said, "I have no idea how you're supposed to defend in this sport."

College basketball fans on reddit were saying the same thing. Highly critical of the block/charge calls in the game.
One time they called a horrible charging call on us, and then called us for blocking on the other end, when both calls should have gone the other way, imo.
