Why didn’t Fulmer give it one more go around back when Butch was fired? What do they have to lose if you’re Tennessee? I don’t think UT is as good a job as it once was. The other powers in the east are not down right now. Your cross over rival is Alabama. You recruit against Clemson, Georgia , Alabama, and Florida. It’s a complete turn around. I saw that 9 out of the 10 top recruits in Tennessee signed elsewhere. I know for a fact their administration is all about football. Their facilities are top tier.

Phat Phil knew there was nobody going to win at TN as low as that program has sunk and he surely did not want his name attached to that list of coaching losers. Either way, TN people realize the part he has played and most likely consider him a loser anyway..... rightfully so.

Fulmer was getting beat like a drum by Saban in recruiting. He would have been just like Dooley, Pruitt, Butch.

Nope, being the opportunist and lover of himself that he is, he just wanted another title and plaque to put on his wall. He knew Pruitt would fail, just like several before him...... and most likely anybody in the next 10 to 15 years. TN is a mess and only a person desperate for some attention would take that on...... enter Steele. You just can't fix a mess like that in 3 years.

As much as we hate how we can’t beat him yearly, you can’t help but respect it. Saban ain’t going anywhere for 5 years minimum.

After seeing Judas Fatmer get spanked by BAMA in Saban's 1st 2 years at the Capstone, they knew he was already washed up as a 55-56 yr old coach.
Also, 2 losing seasons his last 4 years.
