re: So, now that it’s official, what are you’re honest thoughts of us playing against Bama?

Bama 41
Florida 45

Just like the LSU game last year, but this year we do not throw two bad passes in the red zone to seal our fate.

We’re the Florida Gators. We’re back where we’re supposed to be, and this time we’re bringing a team that looks how a Gator team is supposed to look.

Bring them on.

we're in the "room", but we're not the center of attention yet.

eta: we're where Clemson was 6 years ago or so. before their playoff appearances.

You’re right. But come 8pm December 19, we have a chance to become the center of attention.

I don’t know if we win or not, but to go in with a coach I trust and a team I trust feels good. We’ll be prepared, let’s see what we got for them.

I trust Mullen about as much as I trusted Meyer when he was winning championships.

Even with a loss, having a coach that can switch from the Power Spread to an Air Raid is worth a long term investment. I know that no matter what the circumstances, Mullen will get us ready to play. He hasn't been blown out (16+) in two years (since his first season at Florida, Missouri).

Dude clearly knows what he's doing, so if we lose to Alabama this year, I'm alright with it. As I've said for the last few years: I'm content with the direction of the program.

I think if we can give Trask some time we will make a game of it. You never know and I think we took a step forward this season regardless. Najee is most likely going to be the difference.

I'm also part of the camp that believes Mullen has been hiding his hand. The play calling has been very vanilla, and honestly talent wise we have been the better team outside of Georgia. I whole heartedly believe we can/will score on anyone in the country. Our run game is suspect, but Mullen adapts and throws flares and screens which acts as a run game in a sense. Our pass protection has been really stellar all year long and I believe it'll continue on the 19th. Trask will have time to read the defense and make the plays needed to win the game.

On the contrary, the defense is what scares me like most other Florida fans. Grantham's scheme and coverages frustrate me beyond belief and some of the lack luster effort when it comes to tackling or just overall hustle falls back on him because he is the coordinator. If the player isn't working out they need to be on the sideline(DONOVAN STINER). I believe we have enough defensive talent to win this game, its just a matter if they can finally put together a full 60 minutes. Going against Alabama we will not have the luxury of a slow start or slow finish.

They don’t necessarily get after the quarterback

People underestimate Pierce. He is top five in the conference in PFF ranking. He can gain tough yards for us. He wont go for huge gains often, but he consistently gets 4-6yards each run.

Bama 44
UF 34

Going in I still think Bama is a better team...I think Mullen will have these guys fired up and giving a hell of a game. We've started slow in a few games so that has to change for the SEC CG but Trask and Jones will put on a show.

I hope I'm wrong and we win.. frick Alabama.

I could see that. Honestly, I think UF's best chance is to try to do long sustained drives on offense and control the clock, similar to what they did against LSU in 2019, to shorten the game somewhat.

UF scored 4 TDs on 4 75+ yard drives against LSU in 2019, and did push the game into the 4th Q, and put pressure on LSU to score in the 3rd and 4th.

Bama hasn't really had "pressure" to score since the Ole Miss game earlier this year.

Florida's offense HAS big play capability, but is also capable of controlling the clock with short/intermediate passes and converting 3rd downs. That may be the best way to keep Bama's offense from exploding.

I like the thought of long drives but only if we have the lead or are within a score. Long drives and not scoring will kill us.

Was implied in my post

Yes, if we're not scoring touchdowns, long drives or short drives don't matter.

Will be a long day for Grantham and his defense.

Drop back to stop Smith and Harris will gash us.

Creep up to help out against the run and Smith will blow by the entire secondary. Ouch.

We better somehow rattle Mac Jones, protect the ball, protect Trask, create turnovers and be on our A++game.
