4 game Gus, then a mid season surge, closing out the season with losses to our rivals (embarrassing losses on the road), and cap it off with a embarrassing bowl game loss. Rinse and repeat every year until he’s gone.

Once saw this Emerson quote on the bathroom wall, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds".

Wonder why it now comes to mind?

Only 5 wins against ranks opponents on the road in his time at Auburn

He's probably going to win 6 games (I don't see him beating TaM AND MSU).

That would equate to his 8 win season avg(since most years he has 2 cupcakes OOC that we win). THis COVID season messed him up having to play all SEC games.

How are we projected for the Citrus Bowl? That will be a match-up against a good Big 10 team...

Gus is very consistent indeed. That is one thing that he has going for him that nobody can deny

Agreed

-Slow start, although sometimes accompanied by a decent non-conf win
-Midseason stride, pummeling Arkansas and the like
-Late season collapse, finish with a thud

Process begins again and each new Gus team looks like it was drawn out of the ether and has no memory of any gains from the prior year. Year to year building is non-existent.

You left out waiting til 4-5 games in to decide on a starting RB, then running him so much that he gets hurt, leading to the offensive collapse at the end of the year.

2016: Pettway
2017: KJ
2018-19: Boobie
2020: Tank

I would only make one change to your process:

Every 4th year(2017), he defies the norm and beats highly ranked GA and Alabama at home, securing those PTB to keep him on and give him a nice raise. @021 is the next time to see it happen again...

Yes, and then we'll get waxed in the SECCG or a bowl

Because finishing the year on a high note isn't something we do around these parts
