Barrett Sallee’s 2019 and 2018 LSU Prediction

2019 he predicted 9-3. Went 15-0
“Burrow is smart. He isn’t a difference maker by any stretch”
“I’m cool with 9-3. But with the total at 9, under is the play. Bama is a sure loss. Texas, Texas A&M, Florida Auburn are all toss-ups and LSU is far more likely to lose three of those than one”
2018: predicted 6-6 to 7-5 really went 10-3
7 wins: LSU used to be the offseason's favorite darling, including two years ago when -- despite former coach Les Miles' shaky ground -- many predicted at Tiger squad led by Brandon Harris to be Alabama's biggest challenger in the West. Four games later, Harris had been benched and Miles was shown the door. With no established quarterback, running back and a secondary that lacks depth, preseason love for LSU is a distant memory. Any idea of a successful season will be gone by mid-October. Miami in the opener, Georgia as the rotating cross-division game and the SEC West gauntlet will make it hard for the Tigers to be relevant. A push is probably the outcome here, but LSU is more likely to be upset along the way than spring one of their own. -- Over -110, Under 110

Did anyone except the biggest LSU homer expect 15-0 and for Burrow to absolutely ball out this year? I know I didnt. Who cares

Those aren't terrible predications consider what we knew at the time. It's impossible to consistently and accurately to predict college sports.
Orgeron was still the guy that sucked at Ole Miss heading into 2018. LSU had a transfer quarterback no one knew anything about. They opened with Miami who going into that season was predicted to be a national contender. Georgia was a national contender. Then you had Alabama on the schedule. And Auburn going into 2018 was coming off a near SEC championship. Easy to predict 4 losses right off the bat.
Did anyone really see Burrow being that great from the 2018 season? He was good and was going to give LSU a chance, but no one could have looked at his 2018 season and predicted he'd win the Heisman trophy. You also had Ensminger as the OC, and no one knew Joe Brady's name.

Well heading into 2018 we were telling you that Burrow would be fine and LSU would still be a top tier team, and Sallee especially, but also a lot of people on here, kept repeating the same dumbass "hurr 7-5, 6-6, Coach O's getting fired" talking points.
Then this coming year we told you the offense was going to be very good and Burrow would be much improved and most people on here kept telling us he wasn't even as good as Kellen Mond.
So yeah, some takes aged poorly

That 2018 offseason Sallee kept goin on Finebaum saying that Orgeron was dead man walking and LSU should look to replace him with Lane Kiffin when he gets fired mid way through the year

That was some good stuff. Marcus was great the whole year. Orlosky looked like an idiot until he finally admitted what everyone else already knew about Burrow.
Sallee after effusively praising Burrow for the OU game then proceeds to tell us why Lawrence was better prepared because he had been there, ya da, ya da, ya da. It was like Burrow had not played in the road in high pressure games before. And he apparently had no clue as to how Joe handled pressure. Lots of other commentators bought into the the “Clemson has been there” dopey argument. Every time I hear that, I shake my head. It is a lazy man’s analysis and generally means absolutely nothing.

Here’s what you tell Clown George!
I’m 85 and I know my football. Yelberton Tittle threw passes at LSU when I was a kid. I watched and learned from the best. The new Saints Template is THE VERY BEST FB ever played. Even with a lowly QB talent like Mac Jones at the helm, LSU would beat Bama this year. Thank God we got Myles Brennan and that 70-yard arm in his 4th year with us and not a giant question mark like Mac Jones.
Listen to this little history nugget.
In the entire history of LSU FB, whenever a great team arose, LSU always won 2 games against Alabama.
1. LSU won in 1909 (1908 10-0 team/Natty)
2. LSU won in 57 & 58 (58 season Natty)
3. LSU won in 69 & 70 (Manning beat us to keep us from a Natty in 69 and we 63-17’d his Rebel arse to pay him back with interest)
4. LSU won in 2003/2004/2005 (2003 Natty)
5. LSU won in 2006/2007 (2007 Natty)
6. LSU won in 2010/2011 (Lost rematch)
7. LSU won in 2019 (2019 Natty)

While Clown George is GAGGING on that John Holmes phallus of a fact, ask him who his QB will be after the Georgia (4th Top 10 loss in a row). In fact, if every Gump on this site had any brains, they’d STFU until they actually beat a Top 10 team.
Saban is up Shitz Creek without a canoe in 2020. 65+ stout LSU lads (defending National Champs) await the NFL decimated Gumps on Nov 7. Barrett Sallee will be of little help to them in Death Valley.

Much of the LSU fan base absolutely expected 10 and 3 in 2018... we all knew we had something special going into 2019. So we have come to expect Barrett S down playing LSU. Most everyone is down playing LSU this year as well.
