Question for the old heads. Was it where Saban's currently is located or somewhere else?

Coleman Coliseum, front side, up stairs, to the right

Front right area closest to practice field.

Saban's office is in a building that did not exist back then.

The Alabama football building was not constructed until Ray Perkins was head coach. And was not expanded until Mike Shula was head coach (although ground was broke under Mike Price).

And if I am not mistaken, subsequent expansions/updates under Coach Saban have moved the head coach’s office once again.

So what's located there now?

I know his office "stuff" is in the museum.

Maybe this is why the FOG won't let us get a new basketball arena

I have no clue what is there now. Back when football moved to the new building the head basketball coach took over the renovated space Coach Bryant once had.

After you went through those double doors on the right, beside the ticket windows that are still there, the stairs were to your left and there was a door into the ticket office on the right, opposite those stairs, and behind the ticket windows. Student basketball tickets were free, but you still had to go to the ticket office to pick them up.

In 1978, I went over to pick my tickets up. I was in a hurry and walking pretty fast in front of the ticket windows. I turned the corner and went through those double doors at a pretty good clip, and boom...there he was. I literally almost ran smack dab into him, having just come down the steps from his office. He was actually friendly and said hello. I was too awed to say anything other than hello back to him.

He was the very definition of "larger than life". I'd have sworn he was over seven feet tall.

Tough to say, exactly as the Coliseum has undergone renovations multiple times since Bryant's day. There is in fact a large office space on the right of the Coliseum that currently houses the Bama Gymnastics offices, Basketball on the left, with softball and golf offices in the middle. but it was installed during the 2005 renovations.

Oddly enough, there's a plaque in Moore Hall, across from Foster Auditorium, that declares itself as the location of Coach Bryant's office for most of his time at Alabama. Always assumed that meant Moore Hall must have been the Athletic Dept building for a time.
