That place still looks like a shithole, even with the new pictures of renovations. It still looks like an airplane hangar even with them redoing all of the inside. Why does Alabama love airplane hangers? Put a stop to these renovations! Blow that shite up and start over. Stop being a bunch of pussies and stand up to the man.

Appreciate your shitty gym with no atmosphere.

LSU fans are in the same boat. Seems like the administration just wants to renovate the PMAC and its practice facility attached to it when the real solution is starting from scratch.
I know 600 of the 1.5 billion the school is raising is for athletics. I’d really wish 200 went to a new arena, which would impact multiple sports at once.

So much unoccupied air of room not being used.

Gym is shitty but it's a better atmosphere and has more fans in the seats than about half the conference.
But yea, it sucks, and we want it better sooner. Hopefully in the next couple years they do what they say they're gonna do, but most of us have been down this road before and will believe it when we see it.
If they truly did the renovation and made it a 12K seat arena it would be perfect and packed for almost every SEC game. We've had great crowds for almost any game that mattered at all for a decade now, and that's with us fvcking up every single year.
The gym would still have some flaws because of the dumbass roof but it'd be much better.

It’s just a meme at this point. Other fans see us longing for better so they just hop in with no knowledge of it. In its day, Coleman was an impenetrable fortress. They should take the atmosphere nonsense elsewhere.

Alabama isn't Arkansas or Kentucky but it's clearly had better consistent fan support than LSU, State, Georgia, Texas A&M, etc.
And that's after a decade straight of consistently getting Charlie Brownd anytime a ray of hope appeared.

It's 2020. There's no way 200 mill would build you a new arena with team office/practice/treatment facility.

They're going to demolish the arena to its bones and build a new one in its footprint. Much like Sewell-Thomas.
While the arena itself needs it, the offices, lobbies and lockerrooms surrounding the arena are very nice. Much of it new construction built out from the arena. And much of the athletic dept offices are housed there.
There's really 2 separate parts of Coleman, the arena and what surrounds the arena.

Why do we need to do that. Most us like traditional venues. Coleman is spacious
and comfortable. Well kept and could use some minor upgrades but that's it!
When you build something great, you don't tear it down because everyone else has built a newer, more smaller arena.
