Oh, I see you are one of those. Sorry that disagreement with your juvenile pandering makes you feel uncomfortable. Hard to take dining criticism from someone whose only cooking experience consists of hot pockets.

This entire thread intrigues me.
It has the makings of a thought-provoking sociological study—borne of a sports message board; rooted in a dialogue about an all-you-can-eat buffet chain.

We clearly have two camps here: Pro-GC and Anti-GC.
The only thing left for folks to decide is whether they’re Team Norovirus or Team Salmonella.
Just go with your gut.
Literally.

Funny enough, 99% of my meals are homecooked and I rarely eat out. My wife is a housewife, so she does all the cooking. I eat eggs, bacon and sausage for breakfast every day, etc.

I really only eat out when I'm traveling. I've gone 6 months or more without eating out plenty of times, but here lately due to some new work I've been eating out way more often, which has equaled out too...3 times total this month. I went to Huddle House once, Wendy's once and Steak and Shake just yesterday.

I probably haven't eaten at Golden Corral in a few years. But I would go today and I would enjoy it. I always leave having eaten wayyyy too much.

So I think it's more people who think it makes them cool to act like they above such things.

Holy shite, you are a real throwback aren’t you? A full breakfast every day?

You don't know the half of it and wouldn't believe me if I told you.

One-half of my family lives in Great Britain.
You oughtta see their daily breakfasts.
Insane.
And several of my uncles and two of my cousins wash down their breakfast teas with goblets of gin.
If I’m lyin’ I’m dyin’.

And they’re itty bitty li’l things!
I think it’s the “real foods” thing.
We eat so much processed crap in the US; whereas the farm to table eggs, lamb, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, bread, and blood puddings they eat over there are gorgeous.

You do you, and treat your jewel of a wife like the princess she is.

Last time I ate at a Golden Corral ... at one in Oxford, Alabama, that now is shut down even for some reason even though it was always full ... I didn't leave unsatisfied. And I didn't eat a bite of meat, I got two plates of veggies ... I was in a veggie mood ... and didn't repeat a veggie in the two trips. It was good stuff.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for fancy fixins' ... I'm salivating at the thought of the duck in black vinegar BBQ glaze with crepes on the side that I had a couple of years ago at the Olde Pink House in Savannah, or the scallops as big as golf balls from SNOB in Charleston. Sometimes I'm in the mood for beans and greens and taters. I'd unashamedly go get the latter at GC's buffet.
