SEC defensive lines are absolutely ultra-elite this year.

I know that the linemen in this conference are always a couple notches above the rest of the ncaa but this year that is an understatement.

Auburn may have the best line in America. Georgia is stacked almost three deep with elite linemen. LSU has a dominant line again imo. Bama has an elite line as well though ours isn't quite as good as the top three.

South Carolina may would have the top line in any other conference. Mississippi State has a group of dogs even after losing an All-American group from last year. Florida looks to have a quality group and Missouri always has a dominant line.

I know that offenses have gained the upper hand in today's football but I think it will be a lot of fun watching defense this year. I worry a bit about the health of our starting quarterbacks when I see how many future NFL DLineman are in the conference right now.

I hope you are right. The DL is our weakest link on defense.

Maybe so but it doesn't make them a "weak link". I am sure you guys are gonna be elite on the line. Too much talent not to be.

I do believe we will have a good DL, but I am not convinced it will be the best in the nation. We lost a solid NFL guy in the middle...young guys have shown flashes but none look to have his skills.

We lack a true speed pass rushers. We also have a couple of young guys who have flashed but nothing to make you think they'll have 10 sacks, etc...

You may have the best DT in all of college football. The guy is a monster.

Hearing good things in spring. Tyler Clark is sorta our Raekwon Davis. Took a step back last year but hoping he'll be even better than 2017 this year. If Jordan Davis plays better than last year, we could be very good.

But last year people were questioning how would you replace Payne. You did pretty good with that. I doubt you are fourth.

Nick Coe may be a 1st round draft pick by season’s end...and he also may not start because TD Moultry has apparently come alive as that true speed rusher...and Tyrone Truesdell (sp?) has held Coe at bay at DT which is a very good sign.

I think people are sleeping on A&M's line and it's going to come as a big surprise.

I have a crazy feeling that Davidson is going to finally have a great year and just in the nick of time

Guilty. I questioned whether Quinnen Williams could even be half as good as Payne. I was made a fool of course when Q ended up being a generational talent. This year we have a four star true freshman taking over at nose tackle. He is a very big guy and he by all means has won the job because he is good but it is still a question mark until he does it in games this year. Davis has lost a little weight so we are hopeful for a return of his 2017 form. True freshmen will likely make up most of our depth this year and again, we just don't know how good they are gonna be. We were hopeful that Alfano would catch on quick enough to earn a spot in the rotation but he seems to he behind other less regarded guys thus far.

We also get David Marshall back and Wyatt wasn't fully 100% last year after he was hurt IMO and Jordan Davis will be beast this year and it sounds like Trevon Walker his having a really good Fall camp.I expect Rochester to have a big year as well.

We were banged up throughout last year with little depth.

Even losing Josh Allen, ours will be very good. And deep. Probably the first time we’ve had true SEC depth across the line. And we get Paschal back post-chemo too.

Does Nolan Smith have a spot on the two deep? So far Alfano hasn't had it click for him. When he realizes he is the biggest beast on the field and when he is able to just react without thinking about what to do he is gonna be a stud. Not there yet though.

Kentucky has a top 5 defensive line in the sec including after our 17 sack first round pick left.

Not sure but I heard he's had a very good camp along Jermaine Johnson (JUCO WDE)

Both are gonna play and help with our pass rush.

No surprise any more. Desmond "choke a bitch" Howard has you right behind Clemson and Bama.

That is my point here totally. Kentucky may be closer to middle of the pack with their DL but it likely ranks high nationally. You guys indeed do have a great DL even without Allen.

Not really. It doesn't rank near the top imo but with the depth of linemen conference wide, it is still a very good line. You guys will improve over last year's defense for sure. Aggies will be tough no doubt.
