A&M was break-even, maybe a little in the red, for the fiscal year in question.

These are not my words, they are from their CFO.

No dipshit. It doesn't matter how you crunch the numbers Alabama isn't going to be #1. Texas will be.

I was merely talking about your claims of what mattered.

My question is how do you take a smaller school and bring in more revenue?

These are schools. If the football team improves the school and provides funds for educating the student body you're doing it right.

There is no real profit in college athletics, there are no shareholders, there is no CEO getting bonuses, it doesn't go to the coaches, it doesn't go to the fans, if the money isn't spent then it's just wasted.

And as far as black/red goes, it changes all the time as schools spend money in different areas. I'm not sure what year these numbers are from, but A&M just spent a decent chunk of cash recently on upgrades.

All of which are just investments on the future. If your school isn't spending while others are - guess who's about to get left behind?

UGA has a lottery that waters down their student market, overall.

Auburn and Alabama don't have that.

Alabama has recently whored itself in OOS money to compensate, but quantity is not equal to quality.

Either you can actually pass calculus, algebra, and biology, or you can't.

Auburn doesn't play around with this. We don't care about your money. Please offer us your "ability".

Longhorn athletics has transferred more than $10 million per year to the university side for the past several years.

Alabama has done the same a few times, but I don't think that high of an amount.

It kind of seems dumb to me considering how much of the money in those revenue numbers comes from donations to the AD.

This is possibly the first truthful statement Willyboy has made on this board.

College athletic departments shouldn't be hoarding cash.

UT just made a deal with a private investment firm to get a new $338 million basketball arena at no cost.

The firm gets to recoup their expenses (and then some) over 35 years by keeping operational revenues (such as concessions and revenue from non-athletics events).

How many hot dogs do you have to sell to get back 338 million?

It's amazing considering most live in one State. It just goes to show how much money they waste on shirts and stickers than nice homes or real lives.

It doesn't come from just one state. Nationally.
