Mack Brown

Won a single natl champ (in a game USC choked away) and thinks he’s one of the greatest coaches of all time.

Dude has

Mack can kiss babies, slap backs, and do the "Aw shucks" politican/good ol' boy routine with the best of them. How he hasn't run for political office somewhere by now is beyond me.

He may be the antichrist actually, he can tell a story or a joke a fifth time and have you hanging for the punchline. His public people skills and recall are bizarrely impeccable.

Yep. I thought he would run for Governor or something. He really is a people person more than a football strategist.

I had the privilege of meeting Mack several times in person (I was media at the time).
What always struck me was how genuine he was.
Every time he convo’d with you, he gave you his undivided attention (or at least made you think he did ).

After Bonfire fell, he offered me (and my colleague) some of the most comforting words I heard from anyone during the entire nightmare.

I’m a big MB fan and will be pulling for him at NC.

Coach Brown is certainly genuine.

Coach Royal was the same way. I have a great picture of him holding my nephew when he was a baby. I miss Coach Royal.

But make no mistake, if Mack Brown would've gone quietly, Saban would be coaching in Austin.

It would have been one less obstacle, but IMhO I don't think it was THE determining factor.

There are some things money can't buy. By 2012, Saban was not going any where without a guarantee of complete autonomy.

The best I've ever seen at working the crowd. He can recall names and details from randoms he met one time a year prior and spoke with for a few minutes. Really wish he didn't go full petulant child at the end in Austin.

If he would've kept his staff fresh he couldve pulled a Bowden or Paterno lifetime deal in Austin.
