How many gold glove votes did he get?
This is a terrible argument. Guys win undeserved Gold Gloves all the time. Andrelton got robbed by like Brandon Crawford or someone several years back even though Simmons was unequivocally the best defensive SS in the game. Gold gloves are popularity/reputation awards.
Markakis won one last season and he is at best a league-average defensive RF.

Takk McKinley right now for the Falcons I would say.

Yeah all those Andrew won are meaningless because you have two examples

if you say both were equal, they were both extremely bad.
As far as drop off yes Ozzie dropped of more because Dansby has been bad for two years

If you want to replace Dansby next season, who plays there?
A free agent or trade for someone good. I hope they both have great seasons but this love affair some fans have with Dansby....why? Because he is from Atlanta?

He hasnt lived up to his hype so far. His stats from this last year were very average and there wasnt that jump in production that so many of us were hoping for. He lacks the proper moves to beat a well coached tackle and relies to much on power to try to overcome a blocker. He is very streaky and can disappear for long stretches of a game.

More examples? Nick Markakis-2018, Eric Hosmer winning any when his defensive numbers show that he has been a bad fielder his whole career, Michael Young-2008(negative UZR/negative DRS, moved to 3B next season), any from Adam Jones(has a career -43.6 UZR, -37 defensive runs saved), Carlos Gonzalez-2010(played all 3 positions in the outfield that year. average in LF, bad in CF and RF). Nate McLouth-2008(-23 DRS!!!!!!, -13.4 UZR).
I could keep going but thats pretty much just from the past decade, and thats not counting the guys that have the reputation for being great defenders and win awards because of past play.

It doesnt matter. You are trying to move to goal posts once again. It doesnt matter that Ozzie had a good first couple months. He was one of the worst hitters in baseball in the second half. He's young yes, but what if the league just figured him out and he's closer to that player than the one that we saw in the first two months.

Here are the top free agents for next year. Elvis Andrus(has 3 years 43 mil left, wont opt out), Didi Gregorius(Yankees are already working on extension), Xander Boegarts(will sign extension).
That leaves Brock Holt, Jordy Mercer, Chris Owings, and Eduardo Nunez.
Trade? There were 11 SS that had an above league average wRC+ last season(100 is average).
Manny Machado, Xander Boegarts, Javier Baez, Francisco Lindor, Trevor Story, Didi Gregorious, Chris Taylor, Jean Segura, Jurickson Profar, Andrelton Simmons, and Trae Turner.
How many of them will be available in the offseason?
Lets bring a little more perspective to this.
For their career, there are only 85 shortstops in major league history(qualified players) that have a wRC+ of 100 or more.
C-135
1B-344
2B-135
3B-201
OF-877
As you can see, each other position dwarfs shortstop for offensive production, and you can see its still the standard today. Shortstop is a defensive position, and if you have a very good defender there, its ok for them to not be good offensively. Francisco Lindor, Carlos Carrera, Manny Machado....they dont grow on trees.

I actually think the Indians would listen to offers for Lindor because they'll never be able to resign him. But that price tag would be absolutely fricking enormous and would not be something the Braves should entertain because we won't be able to sign him long term either.

Dansby is fricking terrible. If he wasn't a home grown guy, we would have parted ways last year. Maybe he will hit over 250 this year.
ETA:
What is confusing tho is he has never been a good hitter. Not sure why the scouting report was ignored. He was the same guy in college.

Steven Jackson (Falcons)
Honorable Mention goes to Mark Teixeira, not because he sucked - his ~150 games as a Brave were awesome - but giving up all that (Elvis Andrews, Saltalamacchia, Neftali Feliz) for a guy who didn't spent a full year as a Brave was bullshite that I am still bitter about.
The thought process from the Braves front offfice of "oh Teixeira played at GA Tech, so he'll want to stay in Atlanta when his contract is up" completely overlooked one small detail: Scott "Satan Jr." Boras was his agent.

Currently:
Falcons: Desmond Trufant
Braves: Hard to say, no one is really "over" hyped. If I had to pick one, likely Albies
Hawks: Kent Bazemore is the worst contract in Atlanta sports
United: Don't follow soccer - pick one.

I think it's obvious to those of us who watch closely that he has been slipping for a few years now and that he may only have one or two years left in a Falcons uniform.

I didn't think Trufant was ever all that hyped up. he is adequately dsscribed as a decent player and nothing more.

He's overhyped by national media.
Players like Trufant are why I genuinely think people put too much stock into what outlets say these days.
Most Atlanta fans see Trufant as a high ceiling player that only rarely lives up to it.
Whenever you read blurbs about the team, people always paint this picture that Tru is some cousin of Deion Sanders, which, is clearly not the case.

part of me thinks that Grady Jarrett is overrated/overhyped in Atlanta due to the shitshow that is the rest of the defensive line. He's going to end up getting paid like a DT that is below that very top tier, but I'm not sure it's money well spent. Unfortunately, Atlanta's judgment is clouded because we aren't getting production from anyone else on the line and we can't really afford to not have him here.

Jarrett is a very, very good player. If the reports are true that he wants Aaron Donald money, I'd rather some other team pay that.

He won't get Aaron Donald money... Fortunately, AD is in such a class by himself after last season that any talk of that is borderline absurd.
Hate to say it, but we've got some tough decisions to make.
Think we are going to be out on Sanu next year, simply because of the money we are going to have to shell out to Deion Jones, Grady, and Neal.

This will definitely be Sanu's last season as a Falcon. There's a chance it could be Freeman's last, too. I'm about 50/50 on whether the team and Jarrett get a deal done.
