At his age I'd take it in a heartbeat.Beats getting paid three bucks an hour running a jackhammer.
And who needs a degree if you can handle your seven million bucks in a responsible manner.
Take care of your money and retire at thirty if the baseball is over for you.

Fukuoka is a great city. He’s going to love it. That was my local team when I lived in Japan. They have a great crowd and it’s the biggest dome of it’s kind in the world. He could have done FAR worse.

I can understand going to Japan to make some money, but for 6 years?

that was signing bonus according to local radio... hed' be in double A starting out making 40-50 grand a year and have to work up to the majors and by the time he got to the majors he'd be making league minimum which is prolly 500k and locked in for another 4 or 5 years. BAsicaly it will take him 8 years to ge a big contract even if he is good. It is probably the smartest financial choice for him and then at the end of those 6 years not only is he a multi millionaire, but he can come play in the States and sign that 100 million dollar contract much sooner before his arm wears out. or if his arm wears out while he is in japan in year 3 vs the states he will have more money.

Make $2m in Atlanta or $7m to go to a mystical land where worn panties are sold in vending machines... let me grab some change.

he's not making 2 million a year. he'd be making 2 million signing bonus and 50k a year.
