It’s a great hire. Maybe it’ll work, maybe it won’t, who knows, but it’s clearly a solid hire on paper.

I think it’s great. I hope he signs a 40 year contract.

He’s the 3rd winningest active coach in the FBS. Why wouldn’t LSU fans be happy with the hire?

And Bama Fans do not know how to feel, since Cecil Hurt is not around to tell them. Maybe they will turn to Kirk McNair now, when he is sober.

After consideration, I'm happy.
You have to remember, the initial reaction to the Riley rumors were:
1) gets waxed in the playoffs by SEC teams
2) why, in all honesty, would a guy entrenched at Oklahoma, uproot to take a job at LSU?
You dig into #2 (why), and you talk yourself into saying #1 (playoff losses) are eating away at that guy, and he wants a more level playing field.
I never even considered Kelly, the same way I never considered Saban, Dabo, Day or Smart. You're talking about guys excelling at places most guys would kill to be at. Ok, maybe leave Dabo and Clemson off that list; but he's only leaving there for Tuscaloosa.
This is a big hire for LSU. I'm not worried about him losing playoff games at Notre Dame, it's not like he will have the same players but with different jerseys. They never looked outcoached, they looked outclassed at times.
When LSU is clicking, they don't look outclassed. They've gone tooth-and-nail with good Saban-coached Bama teams, they've laid waste to other top programs (Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia etc).
Kelly seems like the type of guy that will have this program focused, disciplined, and dialed in.
I can't ask for any more than that.

I think we are all very happy with this hire.

Of course we are excited to have a competent coach, which most of you for some reason just don’t believe I guess? Do the rant folks here honestly think Coach O and Miles were better suited for us? It’s very strange what I’m seeing happening here. I’m not saying he’s going to be a world beater but he sure as hell going to do well at LSU, just like all his previous stops. Just don’t get why anyone here wants to refuse to believe it. Ya’ll will learn soon enough. Give me one reason why he wouldn’t do well here? Besides the fact that he doesn’t “fit in” culturally according to everyone here. And like anyone should give two shits about that.
