1. Beat LSU
2. Blew a 4th Quarter Lead at Home vs Mississippi State
3. Blew a 4th Quarter Lead as the Home Team in the Iron Bowl
4. Had a Losing Streak of 3 or More Games
5 .Finished Under .500 in SEC Play
6. Finished The Season With 6 Losses

(NOTE: Not trying to make any comparisons, just found the parallels interesting)

How was Dye's recruiting?

In all honesty I could have handled 6-6 just fine if it appeared we had some buzz as a program and there were signs things were improving, or there was help on the way. As others have said, even with our obvious and significant talent gaps, this is probably the most talented team we will have for at least the next 2-3 years.

Dye was bringing in top talent and D-balling them up. Maybe he personally wasn’t doing it but it was rampant at AU. Nebraska Miami any of the powers in the 80s

Exactly. If Auburn had a top 5 class this year, I could give 2 shits about being 6-6.

I don’t disagree with you about the recruiting or the fact that it’s the lifeblood of the program.

That being said, I’d have handled 6-6 just fine if this squad had just looked, for most or much of the season, organized and coached like they at least knew what the hell they were doing. You’re organized and well-coached and you still get beat? C’est la vie, that’s football.

But constantly looking like the Keystone F’ing Cops is wearing on the soul (which is what we’ve looked like for YEARS now).

I’ve said repeatedly on this forum that one of my favorite ever AU teams was the 1981 squad (Dye’s first season). Final record that season? 5-6.

But that didn’t matter to those who were watching that squad closely because you could see, week to week, that those players were learning, they were organized, and they were well-coached.

They just got beat by better teams. But what they DID with their effort that year was to lay a foundation for almost a decade of SEC dominance.

The last 3 games we were at a well over 90% chance to win according to that ESPN thing, 98+ against State and 99.9% against Bama.

We lost all three games. That absolutely can not happen.

I hear ya. But to the great misfortune of society, they don't make em like Pat Dye anymore.

Saban went 6-6 his first season at Bama, I guess they should have fired him. This is Hars first season as a head coach in a power 5 conference so there is a learning curve and he has to get his recruits in place, with that being said I am nervous about recruiting so far. I still believe he’s a good hire and we have to give him time.

Come on, Saban had won a natty coached in the NFL, and most importantly had the #1 or 2 ranked recruiting class during his first season.

It has been mentioned several times, it's not just the results on the field that is cause for alarm.
