Oh are we back to pretending that OM has been a better program the past 30 years because they were good before black people were allowed to play? Sherrill won the West in ‘98 and was 7-6 against OM.

A coach that you folks were so triggered by that you hired PI's to follow him around and had a prominent booster hook up with the NCAA investigator on the ensuing State case to influence his findings.

A chain of events that sets the standard for "that's so Ole Miss."

That’s what OM wants to be, but the tides have turned. I’d bet my right arm that a State engineering grad makes more these days than the OM small town pizza lawyers, and they both put grads into UMMC, which isn’t theirs but belongs to the whole state. I agree that the culture and perception persists, but I wonder how many of those luxury cars being driven around Oxford are leased or eat up an outrageous percentage of a family’s income. I have a few anecdotes that support that proposition, but I don’t know for sure.

See, that's the thing. The game is football. And football should matter more than stuff around it. The egg bowl seldom fulfills that criteria. When has the egg bowl been relevant to what actually happens in the west? That's why rivalry games are the best when both sides have the most to lose. This message was brought to you by the "Iron Bowl."

GTFOH, nobody in this thread gives a frick about Alabama you bandwagon bitch.

I agree with you. I don't have any dog in the hunt but ever since I visited those campuses in the mid '80s I was struck how hard Ole Miss tried to be that particular "image" and how hard MSU tried not to be. Back then Starkville was completely just your basic normal town. Nothing about it was "pretentious or "dressed up".

The Game Day viewership numbers for the OM-A&M game were the second highest in the show’s history.

We just announced a 1.5 BILLION dollar academic fundraising campaign last week with ONE BILLION already secured. Now you don’t have to wonder.
