Offensive gameplaning for Bama

Pittman said in his post game presser that they attempted to run some screens tonight because they knew LSU was going to blitz alot, but they failed because "we couldn't block em."
Pitt said they did it in practice, but couldn't in the game. He said he also expects Mizzou and Alabama to both blitz a lot in the coming games and that the team "needs to get that fixed."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing any slants or quick passes against the obvious blitz looks in the game tonight, and I expect Bama to try to shut down the run on 1st and 2nd down, and then blitz heavy in every obvious passing situation.
How do they fix it?

Yeah that's what I saw as well. We did some it but not really when we needed to. It seemed like we wanted long developing plays. And we need to have treylon stop throwing the ball, there's a reasons he's a wr.

Shouldn't we also have Trelon Smith or AJ Green in the game on 3rd down if for the screen game?

Several of the blitzes were well hidden and when you couple that with a front 4 that were already giving our guys trouble then the blitzes are nearly impossible to block.
Our super slow PA passes don't help the situation at all either.
Their D coordinator was a step ahead of Briles all night.

We need Brad Davis back in a bad way.

Yeah there were multiple times where LSU went cover 1 or cover 0 and we should have been tagging burks on a hot route go and having kj simply catch the ball and lob it 40 yards down field and let burks go make a play. If teams are gonna leave him 1 on 1 I like our chances on 50/50 balls. I only saw us do this one time and it was to warren Thompson and even though kJ overthrew him slightly he was open had about 2 steps on his defender

Needed to run some slants then

Another thing LSU did was bring the safety or linebacker down late. KJ would look at the defense, look at the sideline and get into his cadence and stop looking. They'd bring the blitzer down and he'd be caught off guard. Probably noticed that on tape at some point. They need to get that fixed. He's got to be more aware late in the play clock.

Can KJ not aubible or is that just simply not in this offense?
There's a good indication when 8 guys are on the line of scrimmage, that a jailbreak blitz is coming.
I only counted once or twice in that formation that LSU actually dropped anyone into coverage in that look.
I would think it's a very simple, one word audible to a blitz look, no?

Yeah or rocket Sanders who was a wr and has shown great hands.

Anyone have any good reason they can think of as to why rocket didn’t play Saturday?

The biggest knock on all of the Baylor QBs from the NFL was their inability to read a defense. That would be the disadvantage of the "check with me" offenses.
The advantage would be you don't need an NFL capable QB to run your offense.

He did play, he was stuffed on a running play.

We were killing ourselves with the slow developing plays against their blitz. It seemed like the only thing that we tried were some RB screens (which they picked up easily) or 2 yard outs (which either netted no gain or lost yardage). Not sure why we never snuck a TE up the seam against the blitz, nor did we ever try to take advantage of Burks in man coverage.

Some of the media people were saying post game that they were double covering burks all game but i know for a fact there were times he was single covered because a couple of those blitzes were 7 man pressures which mean they had nobody over the top of anybody. If we get that look any other time this year it should be an automatic throw to burks

There several plays where I was yelling at my TV “BURKS IS IN MAN!”

work on hot reads all week, that's how
part of KJ's progression as a quarterback, ridiculously, was seeing LSU rush gaps like a metro ghetto high school team
how do you anticipate someone is going to do that?
Coach O is a drunk as shite lame duck who didn't give an shite and just hurled kitchen sinks all night. LSU gambled on not being sound at any point in the night, and they didn't give a shite.
like fighting barbarians
look at our other games when KJ is hitting his hot reads, against sound defenses
the douchebags at Mizzou might try to copy caveman shite LSU did, I don't know

do you not know what a hot read is?
It's "an audible" on the fly, QB and WR already have it in their heads to react to
it's predetermined when a zone is vacated by a blitz
it's automatic - no need for an audible
LSU has extremely talented athletes, and it might as well have been Archie Cooley from UAPB telling them to just run the gaps all night
like a dying man rolling $100K on craps tables and not giving a shite
no one does that except dipshit Orgeron when he's already dead

LSU was bringing "well timed" heat because they didn't care if it didn't work. Kitchen sink.
their gameplan was to either win by a little or lose by 40. They were shooting craps with blitzes, and if they ended up offsides, oh well
any well designed offense beginning in the spring and into August is not going to be prepared for that stupidity. Orgeron is a lame duck, and he did all that for that very reason.
Why did Alabama only score 20 against them? Same reason

media people have no idea what they're talking about
2 deep man under certainly has two safeties over the top
that involves OLB's/nickel type guys on the inside receivers, so if their targets end up blocking, they delay blitz at times based on game plan
