If Kirby chose to let Stetson throw as much as The Great Bryce Young (33.8 att/g) he would average 398.8 ypg. Young has only 306.1 ypg.

This surprises me. I haven't watched a lot of Alabama football, but it appears that they don't have much faith in their run blocking. We know they have some pretty good runners. Maybe their OC is just stubborn and trying to recapture their success through the air they had last season?

Curious about what others think.

Is there some hidden metric in the QB rating calculation that makes 4 ints and 14 TD’s on 120 attempts at 67% completion rate better than 3 ints and 28 TD’s on 304 attempts at 69% completion rate?

Or is slightly more points and yards per attempt really weighted that heavily?

I’m not criticizing Stetson as I’m one of the folks who’s good with either of our guy’s starting and have no preference, just a bit confused how his rating is higher than Young’s.

Without looking, im guessing yards per attempt is the reason.

YPA is really the only QB stat I look at anymore. It's not the end-all-be-all of stats but if that one is good, all the others are pretty damn good. Right now Stet's is in the elite category.

Edit for stats-

2013 Manziel - 9.6
2014 Dak Prescot - 8.7 (career high)
2018 Tua- 11.2
2019 Burrow- 10.8
2020 Mac Jones - 11.2
2020 Stetson - 7.6
2020 JT Daniels - 10.3

2021 Stetson - 11.8

Bonus Stat for UTk Game-

#2 in the SEC right now is Hendon Hooker at 10.2 which is also in the elite category.

Same as with fromm, it is a great snapshot into efficiencies of the offense.

But it does miss a lot of the picture when comparing teams with near double the attempts.

That is after the seccg and 2 playoff games.

Last week, stet was 10.0

I will stand by the "same as fromm" comment in that it is a good stat but not comprehensive in telling the full story.

And who doesn't like a young hooker?
