Why don’t Kentucky and Tennessee play for a whiskey barrel?

Yeah, yeah, I know they used to play for a beer barrel, before they pussed out like the Red River Shootout did.

That never made sense, though. Why would the two states most linked with distinct types of whiskey play for a beer barrel?

Anyway, put together a barrel with slats from both state and get after it. Screw the Temperance Society.

And, for the record, I’m a Tennessee whiskey guy. Still meaning to try a bottle of Uncle Nearest.

Two UK playes died in an alcohol related car crash before the 1998 UK/UT game. The schools decided to retire the trophy after that rather than award a "Beer Barrel" trophy while the team and campus grieved drunk driving deaths.

Little different circumstances than the RRS.

...and now they sell alcohol at the games.

That excuse no longer holds water.

It always should have been a bourbon barrel. I think we all agree.

It's time to reinstate the trophy already. Fuxk this PC nonsense.

Pipe down SWC. Kentucky/Tennessee and the Battle for the Beer Barrel goes back to 1892.
