I've seen it several times and it just seems like a weird flex, especially on a sports board.
Just look at the elite company they're among:
1. UCF
2. Texas A&M
3. FIU
4. tOSU
5. Arizona State

It sucks, and really it’s a failed leftover of Rick Perrys bid for the presidency. He rolled out the Sanderson plan which said state schools should serve the state and basically forced us to increase enrollment. Everyone with a degree already is against it in my experience.

Most of the kids in Texas can't get into UT and Rice so in a state as large as Texas, they have a large pool to recruit from.
