no, that's not true. What is true is when LSU isn't good, their fans don't show up.
1990 - 5-6 record, 0 sellouts in Tiger Stadium, average attendance percentage of 89% (low of 63,237, or 78.9% for a conference game)
1991 - 5-6 record, 0 sellouts in Tiger Stadium, average attendance percentage of 86% (low of 64,341, or 80.4% for a conference game)
1992 - 2-9 record, 0 sellouts in Tiger Stadium, average attendance percentage of 84% (low of 57,641, or 71.9% for a conference game)
Contrast that to Alabama:
2000 - 3-8 record, all home games were sellouts, including a loss to UCF
2003 - 4-9 record, all home games were sellouts
2006 - 6-6 record, all home games were sellouts

Fair weather fans... Alabama is the worst about that. I expect to see a lot of those fans disappear as Saban continues to wind down. I bet your fans can barely handle 3 losses, that's what you're getting this year.

Saban’s statement was more about the fans creating a hostile environment for opposing teams. I remember the article you’re referring to, he referenced Florida’s crowd as an example.

Why not? It’s a lame duck coach who doesn’t care, and that’s going to reflect in the players. Why should fans pay for that dumpster fire when they can save their money for next year?
