Let’s compare Barry Odom and Kendall briles

Arkansas total offense- 25th nationally 459.7 YPG
Arkansas total defense- 48th nationally 350.4 YPG
Arkansas scoring offense- 43rd nationally 32.3 PPG
Arkansas scoring defense- 66th nationally 24.5 PPG.
Now I don’t believe either of our coordinators should be fired but the fact so many of you want to get your pitchforks out for briles is a little concerning and I’m hoping that showing you all the fact that briles has been better statistically than Odom has this year who most of you seem to adore will bring you back down to earth. The mans system will work in the sec, the only team who Completely shut him down was Georgia and yesterday he just called a bad game but nobody is perfect. And even when he struggled calling the plays we still racked up yards and put up 23/24 points. Let’s ease off on calling for briles head he’s a lot better than many of you think

Those are some good stats for a defense that won't have anyone drafted this year unless Catalon declares.

I agree but I think you could say the same about the offense considering the only guy getting drafted is burks. Ketron Jackson and warrant Thompson will have good careers here I think

Catalon will be drafted and so will Burks, so it’s a draw there.

Sometimes it seems like Briles doesn’t have a feel for the game and calls exactly the wrong play at the wrong time. Having said that KJ’s improvement in the last 2 years has been miraculous. As a freshman he had horrible accuracy and a really low football IQ. Now he looks like RG3. Have to give briles credit for that.

I noticed you didn’t post our third and long conversion stats.
It’s not good at all.

There is a reason he is considered one of the top play callers, and it isn’t because he calls the wrong plays. It’s because Sam looks over and says we run it here. He has said that in multiple interviews, “I don’t tell KB what to call, I do say I would like to see a run here.” Which leads to generic bullshite stack the box defenses against us.
We have been running generic offense because that’s the players we have for it. We run generic defense because that’s the players we have for it. But it doesn’t help when you have an offensive line coach that has said in interviews, “I like Bully ball.”

Pittman will be an exceptional head coach if he lets his OC do magic and just make sure all the coaches teach perfect fundamentals so we get less mistakes.
If he doesn’t do that, we will be looking for a new guy in 2-3 years. And half the people will be all Pittman, I met him one time and he shared fries right off his plate. The other half will be calling for whatever new fangled offense of the year is.

Well the play calling Saturday looked just like when Gus was here and Nutt said I called that play brother and just ran the wildcat every down.

I have always said the worst thing we get with Sam is a bunch of busted hope, but way better recruiting. So the next coach shouldn’t be starting over at ground 0.
I have always feared that he would hire a spread/passing guy, because that’s what he knows he should do and then hamstring him by saying run now run now.
I think we will know when Kendall is gone after the season or not. If so, look for Barry Lunney or Chaney to be our next OC. Then it will be waiting 3 years to fire Sam.

I think some of you greatly misconstrue what the Baylor offense is. It’s not some sling it around all day every day offense. Once Briles got Baylor rolling in 2010, they ran the shite out of the ball. Big passing game numbers in it but they pounded the run over and over again which is what he’s doing here.

I have not. I said think Tyler Wilson under Bobby. Not bombs. Lots of intermediate throws 5-7 yards and quickly. Get the defense tired and out of position to where they all immediately back pedal and then you hit them with a run. Need a QB who can get you 3-5 yards if the defense is giving it to him. But knows to slide. And hurry up the next play.
