I found other things outside to do besides watch the first half today. Went on-line and checked the score. Then turned on the MN/Neb game...which was pleasant as I never tire of Nebraska getting beat.

Sounds like I didn't miss much.

I listened to the first half on the radio. Watched pieces of the second half. A&M could’ve named their score. Jimbo started treating it like a practice at some point.

They kicked our arse but this is not at all an accurate representation of the game

If the team is going to lose, I appreciate them getting blown out instead of keeping it close. Drink has gifted us with some time back in our fall weekends, the same way he will gift us with a national championship in the coming years

Been following MU for a long, long time. Buckle your seat belts, we’re heading back to the 90’s, Decommits on their way!

I agree 100%. This new AD has her hands full and I think she will sit on them. Mizzou is headed right back to the dreaded Woody and Stull era and that's a slap in the face to Coach Pinkel and what he was able to accomplish.

Drink has a better record through his first 17 games than Pinkel.

I swear, it’s like Mizzou fans WANT to lose and are only comfortable being miserable.

This man is the best recruiter we’ve EVER had. Even if he can’t coach a lick (he can) we’ll win plenty of games due to the sheer amount of talent he’s going to bring in.

So, you're saying we have at least a couple-to-three more years until we get an entertaining team?

Well, by then, all six remaining fans are assured good seats.

I’m not sure you are familiar with how bandwagon fans work. Start winning and they’ll be right back.

Also, that’s not what I said. The transfer portal exists. We know the biggest problem areas. Drink is an elite recruiter. I’m betting he can vastly improve the roster for next season.

But hey, let’s just say you are right. What’s your suggestion for how to fix this? I’d love to hear it

Well, JQ, I googled band wagon fans, so I now know what it means.

And what do you mean, "That's not what I said?" I copy/pasted your exact words.

Of course I was using hyperbole about the lack of fans.

As far as how to fix it, even all-knowing Gabe admits he doesn't know the solution...and he adds he doesn't even know the problem. But as a fan, I'm having trouble keeping optimistic.

I mean, if you can’t be optimistic about a guy recruiting at a significantly higher level than this program has EVER seen then that seems like more of a you problem.

It’s really not hard to do. Look at the recruiting rankings then also look at the current talent rankings (only above Vandy) and that should make you feel better. A significant increase in the quality of players suiting up for Mizzou will lead to more wins. Do you disagree?

Or, you know, again. What’s the alternative? Fire Drink and hire a guy who has a 99.9% chance of not being able to recruit at near the same level? Gut this class and start the rebuild all over? Seems like a pretty easy decision to stick it out with the recruiter for awhile, no?

I speed watched the 1st half last night on Hulu. That's all I could take.

Don't mistake short-term apathy for throwing up one's hands. Unless he's caught being lewd with a chicken, Drink should be given plenty of time to turn it around.

I do have hope for his recruiting, but also fear some decommits due to our recent showings.

We're on the same team here, but maybe I see the road ahead as being more rocky than you do.

I don’t think anyone is calling for Drink’s head here. At least I’m not. And I have been excited about his recruiting success. The situation he finds himself in is not mostly his fault. The cupboard was bare when he took over.

Maybe he holds those kids he recruited and things will improve, but the way kids decommit these days who knows. I can’t remember ever following the Tigers where each Saturday I knew we’d have no chance to win or no chance to upset (well other than the 90’s) and that is what’s scaring me.

Solutions? I got nothing. Just have to ride it out. Doesn’t mean I have to feel good about it though.

Last year was probably better than it should’ve been. We had too much hope.

It’s a rebuild.
Arkansas is showing that rebuilds take time. And they have a lot more talent on their roster than we do.

Drinkwitz can recruit better than we're used to but what has he proven as a coach with in game adjustments or scheming our average players into being in the right positions. Whether its offensively finding players in space or defensively just loading the box when, for example, A&M decided to JUST run for most of their offensive plays. That's what concerns me. This team looks straight up lost. That's on Drinkwitz.

I assume if it was as simple as “loading the box” these coaches that have spent their lives in football and got rich doing it would have probably figured that out by now.
