I feel that the answer to our issues at hand is quite obvious ... we’ve been out recruited in areas of vital need and the talent differential is obvious.... well compete against with the top of the sec if and when we stop losing out on upper tier recruits in all position groups. Establishing a pipeline to the nfl will be the only way to pull this off.

I still can't get my head wrapped around this. Of all the 18-22 y/o guys that play football in this country, how did we manage to get so many that can't catch? It's almost like we went out looking for dudes who were bad at catching a football, on purpose.

It’s perplexing to say the least ... WR coaching has been abysmal for as long as I can remember...

These kids were recruited by Gus to block. They’ve never been taught intricate route running. I’m sure it’s a bit of sensory overload at the moment.

I think Harsin’s ability to find the guys that fit what he wants to do will help a ton. Let’s hope he has a great eye for talent, because the big time recruits will come when we start putting players in the NFL. That is the best recruiting tool to have.

One of my rubs with Gus was he recruited ATH and had no clue how to develop. Hudson is an example. He was a QB in HS and we expect him to come right in and dominate at WR in the SEC?

Gus took a route in recruiting that inflated the rankings of his classes but never filled actual needs

The crazy thing is, he’s probably our most talented guy!!

Not too unusual. Lot of D1 level skill players are the best athlete on the field at their high school, so they'll get stuck at QB.

I understand that. However, it is also not reasonable to take a 3A QB and expect him to go beast mode in the SEC his first season playing.

Well that's kind of a chicken or the egg situation then isn't it?

Harsin will have to make chicken salad (nfl draftees) out of Gus’ left over chicken sh$t...

Our WR coaching isn’t that bad. I’ll be honest, there is nobody in the world that can teach catching. You’re either good at it or not. You can try to minimize it but most of the best receivers just have it. We’re going to have to hit the transfer market and recruit to get more decent receivers. We shouldn’t be teaching receivers in college how to focus and catch a ball, that’s middle school coaching. We should be focusing on other nuances of the game like running routes.

I’m still amazed that a UGA receiver who was a 3 star and only had offers on the SEC from UGA and Vanderbilt made Pritchett look silly for 4 quarters.

I’ll also add this… Speed kills. We have no one who can stretch the field. I’m trying to think of who our fastest guy at receiver would be and I’m drawing a blank. And I mean someone who is considered a burner. Javaris Johnson maybe?

Bama and UGA are what they are. I am just smelting we allowed Gus to stay long enough where Arky/OM/Kentucky have now passed us. We should have kept his buyout and told him we'll see him in court.

Right, which is why the whole thing of "oh it's because our guys are only low 4-star and not Top 100 recruits" is nonsense.
The entire group just looks like they're broken by Malzahn's offense. Routine shite like catching the ball should be automatic at this level of play. We seemingly have an entire roster that takes turns in forgetting how to make routine catches.
The worst part is that the plays were there to be made for us, and we just didn't make them. Did anyone see a Georgia player drop the ball the entire game?

I don’t care what his guys were rated, Malzahn fricking sucked at recruiting. All his “5 stars” and 4 star guys were busts more often than not. He could not evaluate worth a shite. Harsin gonna turn it around sooner than later.
