You all look like the talent is not up to upper-echelon SEC standards.

Perhaps I am not understanding what I see. The state of Texas turns out a lot of talent, from all accounts. Is Jimbo not getting it done or what is your explanation.

Not enough 5 star recruits. Simple as that. One or two per class doesn’t cut it. Seems like we develop a 4* guy into someone who can play at the next level every couple years. But…still just not getting enough 5* guys

We have great talent everywhere but QB and oline. Had some flat out misses at OL, combined with injuries, that have left the position thin. Not enough depth to overcome those shortcomings. Thats on the coaching staff.

King looked ok in his 1 game. Calzada looks like dog shite. No depth at QB. Big failure there.

The rest of the roster is pretty solid, but those holes are big. And make our offense 1 dimensional, and easy to exploit by any decent defense, which is most of the SEC.

Texas kids don’t play a physical level of defense. Not being a smart arse but they’ve got to do a better job recruiting defenders outside of their own borders.

Scheme. Their defensive line is all 5*s and is the best part of their team by far.

Their OL is 5*s who are put in poor positions to succeed (Green being moved everywhere, Foster starting C). Same with their WRs, 5* Demas with like 6 catches in 2 years. That’s scheme. They have talent just below the top 5, but they aren’t coached and put in a position to succeed. And yes, LSU sucks so don’t think this is sour grapez

Definitely not across the board, OP. For example, A&M needs faster shut-down corners who don't get burned in man coverage which was a problem last year as well. They got exposed on Saturday night.

Then there's the obvious issue with rebuilding the o-line this season which is causing problems everywhere on offense along with a backup QB who is not playing at the level he should be in his third year on campus.

The state of Texas has one national title the last 50 years.

Its the most overrated state for talent in the country.

I don’t know tbh but their defense has not looked good tbh. I thought they were returning everyone? State who has trouble moving the ball we’re straight up dicing up the atm defense

Obviously not enough talent and depth at key positions. OL will be fine after this year, but we are playing fish all along the OL. After this year, secondary talent will be there but again freshmen everywhere. TE depth is a concern. We are fine at DL, RB, and WR

QB is the main issue to solve. Our backup cannot run the offense. Next year we should have King and Weigman so that will help

We are young and inexperienced at LB, and it shows

A&M has issues for sure and we suck right now but it really isn't one extreme or the other. There are a lot of scenarios that A&M is sitting at 5-0 in the Top 5 right now with a few things breaking their way. Would they deserve it? No, but certainly it would feel differently. By the other extreme A&M isn't suddenly a bottom feeder with no talent and coaching. The reality is somewhere between.

A&M does not have the depth of UGA and Bama in terms of talent but the starters to begin the year looked solid with a few question marks.

The biggest of those by far was QB and King was the answer. It's really hard to overstate how much losing him hurt this team. Not only is he a better QB than Calzada in terms of functional play, he is mobile and a guy that led a state championship team who is used to adversity.

The OL was the other big question mark and losing multiple starters on a line full of newbies was a disaster. That disaster was made much worse by having Calzada who is timid and not very mobile. Thus you had a pocket passer that needs lots of time because he doesn't handle pressure well. Epic fail.

The defense has issues but they are minor compared to the O. LB play has been mediocre and the DB's have had a lot of injuries. Myles Jones who got burned on the long TD against Arky for instance was having foot issues but played anyway, he just posted his pic recovering from surgery as he never should have been on the field.

Does this reflect on Jimbo and the coaches? Absofreakinglutely! Coaches have to find ways to overcome and they need backup plans. They need to get these guys ready to play and overcome. The problem though is more not acquiring enough depth or coaching it up so that we didn't have to rely on Freshman. We are paying a heavy price for those mistakes now. Our only prayer is that Calzada suddenly transforms into something new (extremely unlikely) or when King comes back we improve and can finish out with some hope for next year.

In the meantime this year sucks for Aggy and we deserve the mocking.
