SEC Coaching

All these SEC coaches can look like geniuses when they have elite players who can execute at a high level.
They can all look bad to mediocre when the players aren’t good enough or are talented but not ready.
Pittman and Kirby Smart are a great example this year. UGA looks fantastic. If Pit Boss was UGA HC - they probably win by the same margin.

Coaching means getting the best recruits you can and making sure they are ready.

And how did they get those players?
How did Saban become the GOAT?
How did Mack Brown do that at Texas?
It is still about the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s..
and you need a coach that can get the best ones..

This is why Kirby Smart is and always will be flat out better than Dan Mullen.
Talent covers up coaching flaws.
Kirby can recruit, Dan can't. Period.

Harsin is looking like a genius today - mostly bc Bo Nix went Manziel out there….
Congrats on the win.

Which is the coach’s job to deliver. This reminds me of Bama fans trying to rationalize Mike Shula. Only thing missing is a Jimmies & Joe’s vs X’s and O’s Cliche.

Mack Brown could’ve run for Governor. He had all the parents eating out of his hands.

On this topic.. I think the transfer portal and super seniors are wrecking havoc across college football..
There is A LOT of parity imo.. which is a good thing.
Unfortunately the 2 bullies at the top also were able to use these things to make them crazy good.
I don’t know the specifics of who Alabama & Georgia got in the transfer portal.. but I’m assuming they both were able to shed bad weight and insert good weight, which raises the bar across the table.
Any weaknesses either team had was probably shored up in the Portal and made them pretty much unbeatable..
It is good for college football.. maybe.. but it isn’t good if the same teams just keep repeating at the top.
I’m not even sure if an expanded playoff helps solve this problem.
Take recruiting this year.. you can now take 32 guys if you lose 7 guys in the portal..
This helps all teams.. but especially Alabama.
Process the worst 7 guys out.. and you get new blood to take a chance on. The cream will rise to the top..

Beamer will never look like a genius. Stop gap hire.

I agree. But these guys aren’t miracle workers.

The jury is still out on Harsin as a coach, but it's refreshing to see him on the sidelines not showing emotion and not doing that stupid "Boom" crap like Gus did. Harsin seems stoic and in control at least.

Oh it will. There's already been discussion that the transfer portal will effectively kill high school recruiting except for those that are highly touted. Why risk recruiting a bust when you can grab a kid with experience from a juco or smaller school?

Harsin knows what he is doing. Good coach.
But Bo Nix made lemonade out of lemons last night, and the team rode the momentum.

That’s why guys like Stoops and Morrow at
UK deserve so much credit developing players.

Why was this not a "problem" back when other teams were perched at the top? This is only a "problem" that has manifested in recent history?
GTFOH with this bullshite. This has always been the reality of CFB.
CFB is cyclic. Do you expect that Alabama without Saban will continue it's run? UGA without Kirby will have the same trajectory? Look at UF without Myer, in the hottest recruiting bed in the US.
Why isn't UM or FSU on top anymore?
Y'all seem to want to punish coaches that are dedicate to all facets of what the job requires. frick that shite.

Completely agree. Stoops has UK exactly on track and I would be ecstatic as a UK fan.
Edit: but if the OL and QB are inexperienced next year or year after, it’s not possible to just out coach every other team….

You mean coaches who can teach their elite athletes to execute well are good?
Too bad you have to do the coaching part...

I get it. But Saban has all you Bammers so spoiled to think it’s just as simple as saying “coaching”….
