Has a school ever fired a coach only to rehire him years later?

With the USC job open and the biggest name out there is lane kiffin. It would just be very awkward the way he was fired for them to bring him back. I doubt that lane would even want to go back there but he always said that was his dream job so idk

Not happening. Ole Miss has just as many babes to keep the water fresh.

They not only fired him, they left him on the tarmac and drove off.

Almost see him rather going to UCLA to just beat their asses every year.

Louisville took Bobby Petrino out for a ride twice but he wasn't fired so much as he slipped out in the middle of the night.

If I was Kiffin, I’d have them come interview me and leave them on the tarmac and never show up.

Here’s a link to every split-tenured coach in college football history.

Honestly, Lane Kiffin got a raw deal at USC. They hired him right after the sanctions hit.

I can't recall any coach being re-hired by the same school after he had been previously fired.

There have been a few cases when a coach left on his own and was re-hired by the same school later on.

We did that last month. Fired Eddie Gran in the spring, hired him back last month.
