Voting “no” to the addition of Texas is within their rights as an SEC member school and could be done professionally and with pride (there are, after all, practical reasons someone would vote No). However, TAM looks downright scared of Texas. Scared of recruiting, scared of playing them, scared of everything. They have even stooped to an emergency meeting to talk about options, including, in a thinly veiled threat, leaving the conference.

If the merger happens and TAM stays, how do they ever defend their actions and try to save face. Their fans have got to be humiliated right now.

Texas thinks we are celebrating them. They have no idea we don’t give a crap and Oklahoma is the prize.

Not sure why Texas would leave the conference where they are revered to join one where they are a meh.

I am by no means taking up for aTm but nobody is scared of Texas. They just want to feel they’re part of the elite and would like to see Texas remain in an irrelevant conference.

I am not scared of Texas, but don't want them in the SEC either.

I really rather not deal with a second Texas fan base. I just don't care to see them anymore than I have to.

I mean I get their point.

The problem they don’t realize is that Texas is more valuable by a mile. We aren’t losing Texas for Aggie.

That’s a myth. The Aggies are not worried about the third best team in the Big XII. The rest of the SEC doesnt realize what a rotten spoiled bunch of self entitled egotists they are. They ran up their football record against A&M mainly in war years, while they were dodging the draft. Since the end of the Vietnam war the record is almost even. They have a history of destroying conferences, making side deals to the detriment of other schools. But now that the Aggies have surpassed them they want to bulldoze their way in. frick em. They made their bed, They made the Big XII.

It was all done behind their backs. I don't blame them. Texas is a bunch of initialed whinny babies. They ruined SouthWest Conference and started the Big 12. Now they're leaving the Big 12....what babies!

The thing you need to understand is, when it comes to anything even remotely related to big brother, A&M collectively lose any logic and rational thought at all at how they're publicly perceived and just REEEEE into the void of "BURNT ORANGE SCHOOL BAD"

They could beat Texas ten times in a row and the embarrassment of this past week will still have the world viewing them as scared and inferior.

I think adding OU and UT to the SEC is going to really change some recruiting dynamics that have developed over the decade. The best programs - Alabama, Georgia, LSU, etc - will adapt to a lower win percentage in Texas HS recruiting but this could really dramatically affect other programs who were developing a Texas-centric recruiting strategy w/o having geographic connection to the region like Arkansas and Louisiana.

There’s a part of me that likes to see the Aggie trolls (which covers most of their posters on this site) squirm, but I don’t really like the idea of our conference dealing with Texas’ huge ego, their political nature, and their Uncle Rico attitude reliving their past days of glory.

It won't help when Sark runs Jimbo off the field their first game by 3 TDs+.

It will almost have to be a Jerry World, Houston, or San Antonio neutral site game each year. The vitriol, fear, and resentment is off the charts over an action that hasn't even occurred.

If they were the only school to vote no, then they'd be the only school to vote correctly.
