It's true. Alabama has played Mississippi State more than any other team in the conference. Our campuses are also very close in proximity, closer than any other two campuses in the SEC.

Alabama and Georgia are the main rivals.
For a long time, it was Florida, but we rarely play anymore.
Tennessee was a rival as well, but we rarely play anymore.
The third rival would be LSU since division play began.

The real rivals are in our own division these days. If we have a legit cross-division rival it probably has a strong historic value to it. I can't think of 2 or 3 teams that applied to.
The rest in the SEC are just make-believe, conjured up by silly cross-division permanent rivals out of B'ham. All smoke and no fire.
