Other than SMU or some such, name a single P5 Texas based team Aggy would willingly play during OOC. There's only 4. Arkansas has scheduled all 5 TX P5 since leaving the SWC, plus Rice and SMU. Aggy won't risk an arse kicking. That's just fact.

Honestly, I can only think of 1 reason that is not already listed.
They believe that they have an advantage over Texas since they are in the SEC. They can tout that the SEC has the most draft picks, that the SEC wins the most National Championships, etc etc..
All of that is ?? true, unless they play Texas on the field and lose. They can say they are better all day long and there is no hard evidence to say either team is currently better.
But all of that is true for one reason, and one reason only. Texas has mostly sucked since 2009. If Texas can win the Big 12 and/or make the playoffs, the whole theory gets thrown out the door.. and at that point in time, A&M will decide that they will need to play the game again to try and prove it on the field.
It’s basically the old saying..
“Fake it until you make it.”
It’s not a horrible strategy, but it is one that causes bleeding around the same time each month.

Look at their 2021 home schedule. No one wants to pay to see those games. It’s like a whole slate of crap non conference games. But Texas loses some of them so it’s even worse.

Assuming that we keep the 9 game conference schedule, I would prefer to play A&M & maybe Arkansas every year. Playing Rice or Sam Houston State or UTSA or whoever is just not all that fun.
The Louisiana game will be fun this year because we have sucked lately.. but if we were good; that game wouldn’t be close. I look forward to the upcoming home/away games with Alabama, Ohio State, etc, but there is just something about giving your A&M buddy shite when you win that makes it fun. And vice versa. It sucks to lose, but it’s still a fun part of the game.
It’s not the same.. but this is like asking.. Why do the Yankees fans want to play the Red Sox? or vice versa.. Because it is fricking fun to beat their arse..
It’s a game. Forget the money. Forget the politics. It’s fricking fun to compete against teams that are similar. We recruit the same players. We are 90 miles apart.. We have played 100+ times already.. and every time we play, I want to either break my tv or party like it’s 1999, sometimes both.
You ask why? It is a rivalry game and I want to bear your fricking arse.. simple as that.

Btw - TCU and West Virginia have both been to said semi finals mentioned above that Texas A&M has not. So proximity and history aside, they’re objectively an upgrade over you cult weirdos.
