As far as catching fish, what species do you want to target

Honestly, at this point any fish will do. So I guess whatever is the easiest to catch

Working on that now. Honestly, to start I'll probably just fish off the dock + immediate area around their house for awhile.

Not trying to go crazy for now

If Martin is anything like the other manmade lakes in the deep south, get a rod and reel, a j-hook and a split shot sinker. Bait it with a live night crawler or red wiggler work. Cast a short distance off the dock, let it sink, and wait for a bite. We catch tons of bream/catfish at our lake house here in GA that way.

Depends on what you’re trying to catch. Bream? Just crickets and worms around the dock will work fine. Bass? Minnows or artificial baits around cover: docks, trees or bushes, and grass.

We have our state championship down there this Fall. Should be down there quite a bit coming up.

Best advice I can give is to not let it turn into a chore. Its supposed to be a break from reality.

Gotta find the sweet spot in your psyche of when you want to keep grinding it out versus when its time to go sit on the dock and enjoy your family.

Some days I'm laser focused and can fish for hours with only the glimmer of hope of a bite. Some days I'm bored catching them every 10 minutes.
