In his first collegiate track event of his career, Arian Smith ran 10.40 and qualified for the finals. Saturday he ran a 10.18 100m, finishing 8/9. Matthew Boling came in second with 9.97. LSU's Terrance Laird was first with 9.80
Cortez Hankton need to work with Smith and get him on that Ruggs/Waddle level. You can't coach speed but you can coach route running.

Smith in lane 1. Boling lane 6

You don't follow track and field I see. LSU's Terrance Laird owns the world's fastest times in the 100m and 200m this year.

Both Boling and Smith competed on the same US relay teams in HS. Both are stupid fast

He will make the Olympic team IMO. He woulda finished top 10 in the 2016 Olympics for 200m

Doubt we see him in 100m in the Olympics. We shall see. Trials are late June

God DAMN, Laird is shot out of a cannon... Somehow he's in acceleration mode through up until the last 5M. Looks like it was actually not a great start for Boling otherwise he might have been right there with him.

Boling has been working on his starts. Great or good is always relative. Starts have always been his biggest opportunity for improvement.

That off-season video from a few years ago where Kirby had the guys running on the track for bragging rights and then let Boling loose after the football players get a head start was priceless.
