We are rolling down the road with our engine on fire right now.
Our Friday starter Ryan Webb is now done for the year with an elbow injury. Starting freshmen Liam Sullivan and Jaden Woods on Friday and Saturday this weekend.
We already lost starters Will Childers and Garrett Brown preseason, now have lost Webb (who moved into the rotation from the closer role after their injuries) and CJ Smith (our original Friday night starter to begin the year). It’s Damn near a miracle we are even in the position we are right now.
Need 3 wins these next 2 weekends to all but guarantee an NCAA bid and it’ll be close shaving making it happen

Is Webb the guy who started Sunday? He is really good.

Yeah, also had a great outing against Auburn and Vandy. Really sucks for him, hoping it’s just a strain and nothing longterm as he is a solid pro prospect when healthy

Yeah I was chalking up Sunday as a loss to him. Sucks to lose him. Hasn't he been injured most of the season? If so was it the same thing or something different?

LSU needs to win and sweep the next 2 weekends.

Pretty tall task considering Alabama is solid if unspectacular w/o Jean/Prielipp and A&M is 4-8 in their last 12 (including a series win over Ole Miss last weekend).
I could definitely see LSU going 4-2, but 6-0 is pretty difficult - especially considering LSU hasn't swept anyone all season.

He’s actually been healthy most of the year, save the first couple of series in February when he was held out for COVID. He was pulled from Auburn a couple of weeks ago at 60 pitches with a mild back strain but then came out at 80 pitches against Arkansas with what ended up being this elbow issue. Cannon (our other returning starter who won national pitcher of the week honors against Vandy) missed the first month coming back from Mono.
Good news is we should have an excellent staff next year with all the experience they’ve more or less been forced to gain. Bad news is we are really limping to the finish line this season and I don’t know that our offense is consistent enough to carry us.

Watching your series with Vandy and Arkansas you guys look like a top 5 team. There is talent on your team for sure.

I didn't say it would be easy lol. I think LSU gets game 1 tonight with Marceaux on the mound. It will be a grind to get game 2 or 3. We will need some guys to step up in the bullpen for us. Should be some good games all weekend.

I have no idea what to expect this weekend, to be honest. Without Jean/Prielipp our pitching has just kind of been a coin flip. If we can get to the 8th with a lead we are generally in good shape, but some nights that can be a tall task.
In reality we need to win 2 this weekend, but I really just don't see it happening. And I definitely don't see us winning 2 of 3 against State at home the next weekend. Combine those 2 and outside of a big run in Hoover we probably sit at home come tournament time.

We just can’t find consistency in the lineup and obviously the rotation remains in flux. Fortunately we have been platooning games on the mound all year so it’s not a drastic shift for us. But after the ultimate what if of last season, it sucks to now basically do it all over again with so many injuries

Expect a show to be put on by Tre Morgan in the field and at the plate.

Expect our middle relievers to jog to the mound and immediately spontaneously combust into flames.

LSU just needs to win 5/6 to lock up a bid. Going 4-2 would leave them on the bubble. So they really need to sweep one of the series

It's absolutely terrible they don't have any flex capabilities on the schedule. 1v4 and can't get the spotlight on Friday night. Oh well. Rocker is good tv too.

I was all jacked up for last year's series, and the pulled the plug with the COVID shite, the day before we were set to play. This season I am not as excited, but it is always great when rivals play.

In these times there is a tremendous amount of flexibility in sports broadcasting, I just don't think those fricks care about college baseball. It's small money to them.

I’ll admit, I’m just burnt out at this point. Only reason I’m still following is in hopes we can get this squad some postseason experience as next year we should be in hosting contention again. Otherwise, ready to move on (even if we make the tournament, we aren’t equipped at this point to do a whole lot)
