But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Should we not spread the gospel? Or is Paul a false prophet as well

That phrase doesn't apply to my man Tebow... Don't know of any prophecies that he's given...He does come across as a goody 2 shoes and his outspoken profession of his faith can be off-putting.. And this is coming from a man who's studied biblical text for over20 years and believes that it's the ACTUAL Word of God...

Context is important. There are many examples of prophets, apostles, and Jesus praying in front of others throughout scripture.

Why does this board hate Tim Tebow? I didn't like him when we had to face him but he's always seemed like a genuine dude to me. Does a lot for charity and I thought he was pretty good on SECN.

Maybe you and him can get together and pray for the end of starvation....diseases....for peace....???

King James Bible
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

Mark 16:15-16 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."

Matthew 4:19-20 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.

This actually seems contradictory because doesn’t the Bible instruct us to spread the Word and to not hide our faith?

This is a stupid thread. You can pray alone and also share your faith with others at different times.

Lookie here Clem.. who the heck are you to start attacking people because of their religious beliefs... on a football chat board?

Know how I can tell you don't believe or go to church? Well.. just about every Sunday in every Christian church in America, millions of people pray together publicly, out loud. And before every football, baseball, athletic events, it is common for SOMEONE to deliver an invocation, which is a public prayer.

Damn it man... religion, warfare, and personal tragedy are topics you should stay far away from. Until a few minutes ago I usually enjoyed your shtick. Now? I think you are just an arsehole.

One "ah shite" cancels out 1,000 "atta boys." You just canceled all of yours.

Matthew 5:15-16
quote:

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The Bible teaches that public prayers shouldn’t be showy or long or done in order to impress men. You can still pray publicly, but that’s why those prayers are typically kept short. Bless your food but don’t try to impress anybody by taking 30min. Neither should you pretend to drop your keys and speed pray under the table.

Dear Harry, when quoting Scripture, its always a good thing to do it in context so as to not look like a fool. In Matthew 6 Jesus is talking about HYPOCRITES, about those that want to be seen doing good but with evil hearts. Otherwise it would contradict scripture in other area of the Bible. The Bible does not contradict itself, ever. Here are just a few examples.

Matthew 26:36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” (Not in a closet only)

Mark 6:46 And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray. (Not in a closet only)

Luke 18:1Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,(maybe in a closet maybe not, but always pray)

Acts10:9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.(Not a closet only)

1Thes 5:17 pray without ceasing (maybe in a closet)

1Tim 2:8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting (if everywhere finds you in a closet then pray, if your not in a closet pray)

His good waaaay out weighs any bad that he's done. I wasn't aware of any public prayer meetings he's had.
