You do realize that the AP was not the "do all, know all" forever, right?
AU was undefeated, and was voted #1 by the AP sportswriters, which was, despite your characterization, the accepted standard for NC claims in 1957, along with the coaches' poll conducted by UPI (which, BTW, didn't exist until 1950).

At the time, the NCAA didn't 'recognize' any national championship in football - they have since gone back and arbitrarily added extemporaneous 'championships', like the one UGa now claims for 1942.
quote:

And I noticed you left out that Auburn was on probation for paying players in 1957, too.
I didn't 'leave it out', it wasn't germane to the post. The Associated Press voted AU #1 in 1957; they did not vote UGa #1 in 1942.
quote:

As for 1942, Georgia was 10-1, and Ohio State was 9-1, so yeah. legitimate claim. There were several legitimate polls that were recognized by the NCAA that recognized Georgia.
Again, there were no 'legitimate polls that were recognized by the NCAA' in 1942. The AP poll was accepted as the sole arbiter of the mythical "national championship", which they awarded to Ohio State that season.

Speaking of leaving things out, I noticed you failed to mention who UGa lost to in 1942 that prevented them from finishing undefeated and an undisputed AP #1 at season's end.

Hey....if you are ignorant and can't answer simple questions, just say so. You don't have to run and hide. Just say so. It's pretty obvious.

Who did UGa lose to in 1942 that kept them from finishing #1 in the AP?

It's pretty obvious.

One trick ponies you all are lol. You've only got one talking point so it's all you ever parrot.

Wins?
Head to head?
Natties?
Sec titles?
Bowl wins?
Win percentage?
Bowl games?
Weeks ranked?

Literally none of these are in auburns favor. A more recent title and 1 more heisman are the only metrics in which to compare programs that Auburn has the advantage, and "more recent" title is kind of a retarded category anyway.

Although, I haven't added up all the total years of coaching experience on our staff like Auburn has so y'all may have is beat there too idk

I'll bite. You started since 2008, right?

Wins? Nah
Head to Head? Nah
Natties? Lol YEEEEES!!!
Sec titles? LOL YEEEEES!!
Bowl Wins? Win percentage? Blah Blah Blah? NOBODY frickING CARES!!

2010 > 1980....And w've won the SEC in 2010 & 2013 vs ONLY your 2017...and we actually can beat Bama, not hope to.

Suck it...slow & sloppy.

It seems crazy. 2013 was a great year for Auburn. It seems like Gus just couldn't change his offense, or at the very least did not make sure to have the athletes to run his offense. He had an effective offense in 2013, but didn't seem to understand his offense required a certain kind of player for it to be successful.

Gus kept trying to prove that he could develop a pro QB. That was not his job. Should've played Malik Willis the last 2 season. Should've played Gatewood. Should've stuck to what he knew & what worked. Played himself.

I’ll go a different direction

Auburn is one of two schools in the conference with a higher percentage of males to females, the other being Texas A&M. This prevents me from starting a troll thread on A&M on this topic, which slightly upsets me. So screw you, auburn.

As much as I wanted to see that, Malik was not the correct choice

God no. Dude cant even get playing time at Kentucky. He was not what some of us wanted him to be

Yeah. It was Auburn. You have a point. Losing to a 4 game loser like Auburn is pretty embarrassing.

I didn't realize that Willis was supposed to be that good until I saw a mock draft that had him ranked high.

There is the key. I do think you have to constantly evolve, but you should also stick with what works. I think you are right about him "playing himself", though. Sometimes you can out think yourself.
Auburn has a great history, though, so I suspect you'll be back, sooner than later.
