Harry, it was indeed a long time ago, in fact, there were still veterans of the American Civil War walking the Earth at that time.
The most interesting thing about this photo is that the young fellows to the left would be older today than the Civil War veterans were at that time.

Also, is the 1939 title claim by Aggy even legitimate?
Tennessee didn't allow a single point all year and went undefeated and untied in the regular season.
They did lose the bowl game but they awarded national titles before the bowl games back then.

It's a poll title (AP) so it's legit...and all schools claim poll titles...
And although I'd say Arky's claim is legit as well, it's not a poll title (FWAA)...
